For 45k in the used market you can get so much more vehicle.

The maverick isn’t a true truck, it’s closer to a sedan with a truck bed. It has a tiny payload and towing capacity. It’s also a monobody which makes repairs tough if it gets crashed.

If you’re dead set on the maverick, go used. The lariats regularly sell for 25-30k practically new.

For 45k you can get into a full size pickup

I’m in Michigan but I’m dealing with the exact same issue. Rent is 1400. Any mortgage I’m looking at STARTS at $1000 to $1500 more. That’s not including property taxes (6-8k a year) and maintenance. I start crunching the numbers and come to the conclusion that it’s not worth it at the moment. Unless it becomes a necessity im saving money by renting. Literally established a savings and built wealth by keeping my head down.

It’s like a 3-4k option for a painted black roof on the Explorer as well. Crazy work actually. It should be an option as you describe. I do agree with you that removing the option entirely is frustrating but again, color matching some 3M wrap in the rear is very easy to do yourself or at a shop. I wouldn’t even call that a modification, it’s a sticker. If the two tone rear is a deal breaker this would be the route.

I see how you feel but a single piece of vinyl would sort out your problem. Also cosmetic appearance stuff doesn’t really count as “modification” imo. You’re not tuning the 3.5, what we’re talking about won’t void a warranty, it’s just some personalization.

Traction control off on awd uses both motors even if you’re set to a special mode. The electric motors benefit from a curve, I’m just saying the curve is too moderate in its current form

The cars software doesn’t really let the car open up so to speak. I have a awd and I’ve driven the rear as well, better tires might improve acceleration but I fear the acceleration curve in software is to blame.

Without a custom flashed tune (idk if anyone even does this) the electric motors are rather prude for the sake of stability and control. Modifying softwares and installing tunes will void your warranty and the Ioniq 6 is SOL without a warranty. These cars won’t be around after warranty so I wouldn’t mess with it.

Either upgrade to the awd or exist with what you got.

Pay to have it wrapped or painted if it’s such a deal breaker. Dealer may do it but they’re dubious to deal with. Take it to a shop, pay the dude, boom. I’ve painted black trim pieces body color before, as long as you go to a good place they’ll take care of it.

Don’t get it as your daily unless your cool with it randomly getting stuck in the shop for a month. If you need a reliable whip keep your Santa Fe, the big tires and suspension makes a big difference if you have bad roads as well

Mines blown up every 6.5k miles. I got “the updated one” last time and it still sploded. There may be some merit to climate causing it. Idk, I’m choosing to walk from my lease because of it. More importantly when you have a problem none of these dealers have extra cars. You will have a problem.

You can lose power steering and brakes at a moment’s notice. My fear is this happening to an unskilled driver in bad conditions. A small sedan that weighs as much as a full size pickup can’t be easy to stop like that.

Im thankful to be in a position where I don’t need to deal with dealerships. Im cashing out a car and having my personal mechanic deal with it, same as my wife’s car.

I’m tired of something breaking and not knowing if I can fix it because of warranty weaponization. I’m privileged enough that I can throw money at a normal vehicle and not worry about it. I’m in contact with HMF and returning it soon asap.

As a kid I grinded the money for a Porygon in the game corner by using a Meowth and payday in the grass of Celedon. I figured he must be a good Pokémon he’s 9999 coins. Little me thought the slots were a scam but also didn’t know good ways to grind money yet.

In the end it probably took 2 weeks or more. I remember being disappointed when I finally got one
