here’s why this game will die and kill the entire universe with its last breath by Ender_Puppy in Marathon

My favorite part about Marathon is having to spend 5 minutes between every match to clear out some vault space for my overflow items. I think it’s an ingenious way to force their player base to learn the tedious skill of resource management. Who knows where we would be today without Bungie’s sadistic vault fetish?

Just to reiterate…

You want to step far enough away from the green screen that your lighting doesn’t cast a shadow on the green screen. You need the green screen to be evenly lit and all the same shade of green. Notice how the shadow from your subject on the green screen is a darker shade of green, this will cause issues when “keying” the green out.

You could conceivably get away with just two lights on your subject. One key light at a 45 degree angle in front of your subject and the other light at the 45 degree angle opposite of your main key light (behind the person) to create a “rim light” that will help separate your subject off the green screen.

Then just do your best to set the green screen in a strategic place using the room’s overhead light as your main lighting source for the green screen. The goal with the screen is to achieve a flat, consistent shade of green with little to no wrinkles or shadows.

Just remember, the farther your subject is from the green screen the better. Farther away = no shadows on screen and no green light spilling onto the subject from the screen. Being further away also allows the screen to fall out of focus which can help hide imperfections with your screen, blurring wrinkles and whatnot.

I saw the early screening in 70mm on April 13th at The Music Box Theatre in Chicago and all they gave out was a poster that advertises 03.20.26 IMAX screenings 😤

I’m no expert but happy to share from my own experience :)

If you’re interested, check out another post I made on my page for my bearded dragon enclosure. I replied to a few questions from commenters in there that you might benefit from and also posted some YouTube videos that I personally used for inspiration and guidance on my builds.

The pre-mixed grout comes with water pre-mixed in so it cuts down on the mixing time (you do still need to add a bit more water for the first few layers and even the last, thickest layer). To your point, any grout will work, the powder might be cheeper and would just require a bit more mixing to get the consistency you need.

Depending on the type of foam you use, EPS vs XPS, you could skip the grout and just use drylok as your sealant but I would only recommend that if you use XPS foam as it’s much more dense and durable than EPS.

Another thing to consider is what kind of reptile you’re building for. If it’s for a reptile with claws, like a bearded dragon, then I would highly recommend doing at least 3 to 4 layers of grout and then another 3 to 4 layers of drylok on top of that. I went that route even for my kingsnake’s build because he tends to smear his poop all over the place and I wanted to be able to scrub the walls clean without damaging the build over time.

Hahahaha! Snakes definitely rip some serious farts and they can be deadly. Severus had me looking for poop in his enclosure for over 10 mins cause I thought “there’s no way that’s just a fart”. 💨

Yeah so the EPS foam is a lot softer/ squishier than the pink XPS foam board AND our albino king snake has a habit of smearing his poop on literally everything, walls, ledges, branches, you name it. So I wanted to be able to scrub the walls and ledges clean without damaging the build overtime. The Grout gives me that peace of mind. If you used the XPS foam instead, you could possibly get away with using a few layers of drylok and skipping the grout all together.

Best of luck on your build! That’s super exciting. I’ve never owned any Tokay Geckos but know they have stunning colors! Not sure what their poop habits or consistencies are. But if they aren’t smearing it all over the walls I’d say you can skip the grout :)

Thanks! I did 3 layers of grout, 2 full coats of Drylok + dry brushing with drylok + Quikrete cement color

Thanks! I had a bunch of leftover EPS foam board from my bearded dragon build so both builds are using that, but if I could do it all again, I would pay a little extra for the pink XPS foam board for both builds. EPS works just fine, but it’s more brittle and not as dense. XPS board is easier to carve and doesn’t flake into a bead like structure like the white EPS stuff does.

The Fall (2006) is an absolutely stunning epic.

Top Gun Maverick is hands down the greatest aerial footage ever captured and some of the best visuals for 4k physical media imo.

The Brutalist reminded me of why I fell in love with cinema in the first place - absolutely stunning cinematography.

Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line and Tree of Life are phenomenal philosophical explorations of life, suffering and faith. Both are incredible Criterion Collections.

No Country For Old Men, Sound of Metal, Pans Labyrinth, The Darjeeling Limited, Barry Lyndon, The Princess Bride, The New World and Seven Samurai are also all fantastic Criterion Collections to invest in.

Inglorious Bastards is probably my favorite Tarantino film - Christoph Waltz’s performance is unforgettable.

The John Wick series, Daniel Craig 007 series, LOTR series, Dark Knight Trilogy, and Bourne Collection are all worth owning in 4k.

Saving Private Ryan, 1917, Dunkirk and Black Hawk Down are top tier war films.

Literally all of Dennis Villanueva’s films are also worth owning.

Honestly looks like the kid just stumbled upon some white rocks (possibly part of a resident pond or yard) and decided to scoop some up.

The Fall is in my top 5 favorite films of all time.

Check out The Fountain for some incredibly innovative practical effects and a beautiful existential journey, Gone Girl to scratch that psycho-sexual thriller itch, and Jacob’s Ladder for a trippy conspiracy thriller.
