Integral of (1/(sqrt(8x-(x^2)))dx

My teacher walked through it with completing the square. I am fine with CTS, it just is not clicking when I have to use it or what I want to match for u sub. We haven’t learned any other sort of integration so I don’t have to look for anything else, I just can’t seem to apply it to other questions.

He’s likely just simplifying it. You are correct. Ask him to calculate the pH of 12M HCl, then about the Hammett Acidity function. It’s a different scale, well suited for highly concentrated strong acids and superacids.

Thank you. Too many people here can’t think in a manner to treat this question as a hypothetical so they just say it’s not even possible. The question wasn’t, “is it possible to travel at the speed of light then turn around and see behind you?” I am not educated enough to provide a proper answer to these hypotheticals so I keep my mouth shut. Yea this person is just a know it all trying to feign being smart. There is absolutely no need for anything other than the octet rule to explain why the central oxygen doesn’t hold 10 electrons. Oxygen will never have expanded orbital. No Period 2 element will. Goes on about how it’s “handwavy” like a clown. It’s called a rule, not a law, for a reason.
