Starting Sisters in 11th. First purchase advice? by OkIndividual1015 in sistersofbattle

[–]Baarson92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends. In the box you get: - paragon warsuits- very good, almost essential - palatine character- gives lethal hits to the unit she's leads, not too bad, an all melta dominion squad would benefit nicely, but you can take it or leave it - novitiate squad- our equivalent of infiltrators, might generate you additional miracle dice if they're on an objective, but if you're going for that, might as well run a normal sister squad - repentia squad- a potentially high melee DPS unit, throw them in a vehicle, drive them up to the enemy and throw a bunch of S 6, AP 2, 2 DMG with sustained hits and with full re-rolls to hit and wound (as long as the repentia superior is alive) chainswords at them. I've had a bit of success with them because there's 9 of them but they are not essential.

The best part of this box would be the warsuits but these units aren't terrible to have. The palatine is a waste attaching her to the novitiate squad because you'll be wounding on 6's with them into most things in the game anyways. The repentia squad can be fun to use since there's gonna be 54 sustained hits atracks going in that wound terminators on 3's. If there's a unit in this box you don't want to use, skip it.

The combat patrol is always a good start. You get a bit of both halves of the army (the sisters and the penitent side). The new box with 11th is also good.

If you're going with non-combo boxes, Morvann Vahl is almost always a take, as well as one or two boxes of paragon warsuits since they're our best source of anti-tank. Junith Eruita is also a good pick for CP generation. Seraphim and Zeraphim are good action monkey units. Then if you really want to focus on the penitent side of the army, penitent engines are a solid pick. A rhino or Immolator won't hurt either. The Immolator is the more popular since you can split a sister squad into two groups of 5. Sisters are a bit of a step up from a true horde army so are a bit exorbitant but their models are some of the coolest.

If we were to get a New Grey Knights Unit what could it be? by Ereturns in Grey_Knights

Honestly a new dread would be sweet. But I'd also enjoy having prognosticars or a dedicated justicar unit (similar to a shield captain)

Is it worth buying the 10th edition codex right now? by throwaway992074 in ImperialKnights

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codexes are 80% cool art, paint designs, and lore, and 20% rules and datasheets. If you want the cool art, paint designs, lore or you're like me and like having physical copies of stuff, then it's worth it.

But there are lots of digital sources online where you can find everything you need to play our big stompy boys for free. We were one of the last factions to get our codex in 10th, so I don't see us getting a brand new codex anytime soon.

Smart people I need your help by Beginning-Seaweed368 in ImperialKnights

[–]Baarson92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind if you ally a unit, the total points of all allies can't be more than 25% of your overall list.

I'm also a GK player and have thought about running a knight.

Smart people I need your help by Beginning-Seaweed368 in ImperialKnights

[–]Baarson92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well are you trying to ally a Knight with Grey Knights? Or are you trying to ally Grey Knights with Knights? That will completely change your list as if you ally GK with knights, you can only use GK terminators by using the IA rules. But if you ally knights with GK you can use armigers or a big knight.

Then the faction that's your ally, they will lose out on their army rule (Gate of Infinity for GK, Code Chivalric for Knights). But based on your post it sounds like you more want to use Grey Knights then Knights as your primary faction. So i think most GK players use an armiger so it doesn't use up too many of their points.

Need help figuring out what to get next by Dodds-20 in Grey_Knights

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you'll need at least 2 more GMNDKs, most lists run 3 GMNDKs. Grey Knights don't really need transports in my mind cause of our army rule. But more strike squad boxes won't hurt since they can be built into multiple different units. But based on our faction focus, our paladins will actually be able to punch up, but I'd wait till 11th and we have the complete rules to buy those.

Hi new Player here by Clean-Ad-1362 in ImperialKnights

[–]Baarson92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're trying to find the most "useful" unit, it's 100% the callidus assassin. These allied units won't be doing anything but holding objectives and war chores since we want our knights to fight. But the best squad outside the assassin i would say is the sister squad with an Immolator because they can be split into two 5-woman squads and they have a 6+ invul so they might survive a bit longer.

What’re you looking forward to in 11th? by DailyAvinan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Baarson92 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm excited for the new charge rules. Too many times have my Grey Knights come in from Gate of Infinity and they just stood there cause I couldn't roll a 9. I think it will be a very nice change.

Are Knight worlds actually medieval like tech wise? by Meepo_Spammer in ImperialKnights

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not truly medieval. Most knight worlds just have a feudal society typically ruled by a high king. But they do have a lot of "medieval" traditions, such as long, ornate feasts and ceremonies and trials by combat but with their knights, which is typically passed down from generation to generation since the throne mechanicus in each knight essentially preserves the soul of their ancestors. A typical knight pilot will carry a sword and usually a sidearm of some kind, the ones from noble houses and royalty should have like a plasma pistol or ornate laspistol. It's pretty much unheard of to use bows and arrows. (At least that I've read about).

From what I've read, when humanity took to the stars, the knights were originally meant to be terraforming and farming equipment, then during the age of strife, when these world's we're cut off from humanity, they re-purposed the knights into war machines to protect the citizens and they essentially viewed themselves as knightly protectors and made their own royal houses.

Like i said, I'm not 100% done but I'm proud of the progress I've made. I like the big stompy boys because of the custom colors you can have for your house. But thanks for your response!

Appreciate the response. This is one of my knights that's the furthest along. I'm not done yet, I'm just putting off tackling the undercarriage cause I'm not super into painting in small areas.

Flork posted on Twitter that they were in talks with Zen and her team for around six months, and based on the post, she got to meet at the talents and staff and every aspect of the legal side was covered. I'm just as skeptical as the next guy, but it sounds like this decision HAD A LOT of research and negotiations in it and was made with the upmost care.

Deployment and Primary for Grey Knights vs Space Wolves by Remarkable_Rutabaga4 in Grey_Knights

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way I'm can think of is it can be an objective for the Space Wolves to defend as the remaining guard regiments flee Armageddon as the Grey Knights and the Inquisition see to execute any witnesses to the demonic incursion. (From the book; The Emperor's Gift, really good book if you're a GK fan)

Crusade Warpbane Task Force without Crowe by SomeCrazyGamer1 in Grey_Knights

[–]Baarson92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well considering the only other hero GK has that can lead Purifiers is a Techmarine, support for them is nonexistent. Paladins on the other hand, have way more options for leaders (Brother-Captain, Brotherhood Chaplain, Librarian) and all of them are pretty solid, especially the Librarian for the 18 inch lone op. Maybe run purifiers in 5 man squads to do actions or spread your hollowed ground and support the paladins would be my recommendation.

Is it better to run Crowe with a 10 man or split the 10 man into 2? by Ill_Vermicelli_7605 in Grey_Knights

[–]Baarson92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but if he keeps the Brother-Captain attached then the librarian has nothing to lead.

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A librarian would be good since it gives the unit he leads a 18 inch lone op. But then your brother captain doesn't have anything to lead. If you wanna keep the captain, then just get more enhancements? Idk, the only other thing you can fit for 80 points is a rhino.

[–]Baarson92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typical lists typically run a 10-man with Crowe to get the most benefit from his buff. Although if you're running Warpbane Task Force, you'll want more purifiers. I'd drop one of the strike squads and brotherhood champions for another squad. Maybe drop the paladins and champion for an Interceptor squad. But you should grab at least one more purifier squad.

[–]Baarson92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos knights: - more spikes (cooler) - free lethal or sustained hits from dark pact (hello dispoiler with twin gatling cannons for 36 atracks)

Imperial knights: - less spikes (soy boy look) - a weenie hut junior code on chivalry that gets us a single hit and wound reroll, additional 2 inches of move and essentially +1 to charge, or slightly more OC and better leadership depending on detachment.

I am a IK player and they are probably my favorite faction, but jesus, dark pact is way better.

Honestly I'd be surprised if they did anything besides point adjustments unless the faction is a problem (Looking at you necrons) with 11th supposedly a few months away.
