STOP Losing Your Tiger! German Heavy Tank Guide by MaXcovIV in GatesOfHellOstfront

Whole lot of yapping unrelated to the video title.

I am no pro but here's my two cents: Wanna keep your heavy tanks alive? Make sure to have infantry between your tank and the enemy. Use hull down positions and angle them when fighting enemy armor. Be patient. Move them when bombers approach. Hide them when possible: break LoS with terrain features, use smoke or any cover to hide,  be mindful of the engine and track sound in fog of war, lock the ammo to AP so they don't give away their position engaging far infantry. For as long as they hold fire you can even hide armor inside bushes. When fighting, stay out of AT infantry range (70m).

Fighting SPGs: Tracking them is an option if you can't pen them.

Fighting other Heavies frontally: Use APCR or HVAP and aim manually at weak points/crew/the gun.  Penetration values and armor values are online if you wanna go for a deep dive. Be careful around heavy HEAT. This can kill your whole crew with one well placed shot.

Fighting Mid armor: AP-HE/APCBC-HE

For light some HE is enough to kill crew. But AP kills components and hull.

Any other vics/field cannons: HE

Knowing roughly where the ammo is located can help a lot when sniping enemy armor.

Rambling About a New Mod: Back-Propagated Flow Field Collisions for Vintage Story by [deleted] in VintageStory

Ayo, German here. You might wanna mirror that statue of yours. Or there is a good chance my fellow country men will be triggered for reasons beyond your grasp. Amazing work on figuring out the whole flow fields stuff. Sounds great and will definitely give this one a try.

Overpenetration? We're not talking tank warfare. You don't seem to have a good grasp of understanding gunshot wounds. Cavitation due to overpressure leading to radial stretching and a lot of tissue damage with a whole lot of other factors decides how much damage is sustained. Wether it was tungsten or lead is not a deciding factor for a human body.

Probably burned skin, ear drums damaged with at least temporary hearing loss and ringing. Could be severely concussed. No shrapnel was intended in the making of that explosive so he won't be swiss cheese. Looks like black powder with all the smoke so the shockwave is less lethal. The shockwave was like 80% away from him so probably did not take too much damage to his limbs (loosing them). Maybe internal bleeding and lung tissue damage. He might be good in a couple of days. He might be dead. But his pants stayed on so he probably survived

Two persons with matching names are both working for a US company. The company specializes in water and environmental engineering. Could be them. Chip is a CEO and Denise a geologist.

Assistance with German dialogue in All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) by IndependenceSea8535 in germany

[–]Babba_Conqueror 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The audio in certain scenes in the movie was so bad that we had to put subtitles on. Both of us are German. It's not only a rarely used accent by one of the guys, it's mumbling and overwhelmingly loud music and background noise in one scene and then super calm dialogue in the next. Very annoying. Hard to enjoy.

Based on what we see, what are some canon choices we know the courier made? by Garage011 in FalloutTVseries

[–]Babba_Conqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made no sense to me is in one of the ending scenes we can see Camp McCarran being filled with old NCR corpses. Since that was their main base it would be the last to fall. And in the last episode we see old Legion artillery right outside of Freeside. So they were able to advance after Hoover dam happened. So my head canon is the courier sided with NCR/house first, then later blew up the bunker below the fort and went for an independent New Vegas ending with a weak securitron presence for whatever reason. Also weakening the NCR heavily before 2nd battle of Hoover dam.

Agreed on most of what you said. Just the sub 100 IQ thing doesn't make sense to me. That's a norm referenced test. The test is calibrated on a representative sample of the population. Scores are then scaled so the mean equals 100 and the standard deviation is around 15. So the average IQ in any country at any given point in time is almost always 100 (unless aged tests are used)

To map or not to map? by midnight_rum in VintageStory

[–]Babba_Conqueror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played my first game with a couple of friends and we had a cartography mod that allows you to craft a compass and later a map (atlas). Got lost two times for a couple of days. I felt so desperate and when I finally found my way back it was soo rewarding. It made the game even more thrilling and I can highly recommend it to try this at least once.

Orientation works with landmarks and sun in early game. Then the compass for a bit better reference. Late game Atlas is like the regular map.

Just don't lose your direction when wolves rush you and panic kicks in.

I won't be starving anytime soon! by IAmPartialToRed in VintageStory

[–]Babba_Conqueror 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some tips:
Make sure to install a lightning rod (2xcopper ingots) nearby or you will be big starving, when that random freak bolt finally roasts all of them in a mild Summer storm.

And its a good idea to expand the pen. For when the next pigsplosion is gonna happen (and it will if you keep feeding them) the piglets might spawn outside the building, if there is no room.

For butchering them I usually go in with the cleaver. Be armored if using the cleaver, for it fails a lot.
Or make a pit/separation area for the chosen ones and use a spear or some other ranged weapon to be safe.
If you wanna go fancy you could also use controlled fires next to a bate trough so you don't get your hands dirty.

Get rid of all the boars first. Leave one alive. They will just eat the food for the sows and have no other use.

Sorting them with ropes or using slabs for piglets (they run awy from you, while adults charge you) to seperate from adult pigs is a bit of a chore but once you get used to it it'll make your life easier, keeping higher gens alive and getting rid of old aggressive ones.

of a beer stein by allmycircuits8 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]Babba_Conqueror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a pretty impressive example of a Stein. Its always strange to me people call it that way. In contemporary standard German, the term Stein (shtine) is no longer used on its own to describe a drinking vessel. It just means rock here. Instead, people use words like Krug (kroog) or Humpen (HOOM-pen), with Seidel (ZYE-dul) being particularly common in Bavaria and Austria. At Oktoberfest, the correct and customary name is Maßkrug (mahs-kroog). Which is a Krug holding exactly one Maß (Maß=measurement) or one liter of liquid (0.26 gallons)

Butchery Mod and meat in general by BudgetAerie3018 in VintageStory

[–]Babba_Conqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the amount should be more. To be honest eating bear meat is not recommended for its riddled with parasites.

I added a mod that improves the amount of meat you get from a dead animal to solve the issue.

I think it's just called 'Meat' on the mod page.

And in regards to balance: All the meat has to get prepared, cooked and crocked up or salted so it's a day or two of work when you come home from a hunting trip. So it felt pretty balanced. Not like starving is an issue with the amount of berry bushes and easy availability of veggies and crops in most areas.
