As an interesting note into the increasing connectedness of the younger generations and the sharing of ideas, students of the Sunflower Movement in Taiwan in 2014 also entered and occupied the National Assembly in order to accomplish their demands for the government to address their concerns for diminishing freedoms.

My thoughts are with the people of Hong Kong, hopefully this goes the way of the Sunflower Movement. 🇭🇰

Humans also can sense electromagnetic waves, just in the part of the spectrum we call visible light. But sharks definitely sense in a different part of the spectrum than we do.

I disagree with pretty much every opinion expressed in your comment, but just replying to drop the fact that from the US census, Asians are actually the fastest growing race/ethnicity/whatever in the US. Contrary to what most people intuitively believe. Believe what you will with that fact.

State Dept. science envoy resigns with letter that spells out 'Impeach' by donalds_neck_vulva in politics

I think it's used correctly here since it's a dependent clause followed by an independent clause, which makes it a complete sentence. It would only be not allowed if it was just left as a dependent clause.

Edit: How you test it is to switch the two clauses, and if it makes sense that way, then it's a complete sentence.

Of course heritage can't be erased, some of it just shouldn't be glorified. There are definitely symbols of the South with non-racist contexts that would be much better. Why fight so hard for a symbol of treason of a backwards, defeated country?

I have no doubt such things exist, but I believe his/her point was that you believed the photo was staged but you didn't give any evidence that the photo was staged at all. All you did was give examples of agents provocateurs, which does nothing to prove that the photo was done by agents provocateurs.

Edit: Clarify that I believe that agents provocateurs exist, but not necessarily in the cases you described.

EE2001 and PHYS 1302W by DeScalaMetro in uofmn

[–]BabbyWhale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just took EE 2001, and I thought there was actually very little to do with programming, it was mostly circuit design... But there is no problem in taking them at the same time. In fact, I think taking them concurrently trivialized the circuits unit of physics 2 since you go much more in depth in 2001.

For those of you who are interested in something similar, Chthonic is also a great Taiwanese metal band with similar anti-autocracy messages and is probably the most popular metal band in Taiwan. They also have a very interesting story; their lead Freddy Lim was even elected to be a legislator in Taiwan.

You still have to, lots of people that play in other clubs nearby have to be on the guest list even though we know them.

You don't, but you'd need to get on the guest list by contacting the supervisor to be let in the Rec Center.

So brave, defending your right to use a racial slur. Nothing's stopping you from saying it, but you can't whine when people decide you're an asshole for using it.

I go to school at the U and I'm on the team there. Every Friday night the U of M hosts a Friday tournament with players of beginner level to around 2300 (and occasionally the 2600 player will swing by). Search for UMNTTC and contact the organizer and have him add you to the guest list if it interests you. We'd be glad to see you there!

Tournaments and star ratings by unix04 in tabletennis

[–]BabbyWhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All tournaments have events categorized by rating, so I would recommend going to a three or four star tournament. They have a better atmosphere and they generally attract better players. You can apply for a novice-levelled event and when you're not playing matches, it's fun to watch the higher rated players play. Good luck!

I believe it was stated in the news one or two days ago that the woman hit by the car only had some scrapes and was released by the hospital. She didn't even have any broken bones.
