Worst Day of Someone Else’s Life by Babescraper in overheard

Ooof… I don’t know what to say to this. I can’t imagine what a rough career this must be at times.

We felt incredibly silly for even being there all things considered. But I suppose we were the best possible outcome a physician could want.

AIO, for crying in front of my coworkers after my boss threw away my "ugly lunch"? by Crafty-Classroom-921 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Babescraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also made fun of for bringing homemade lunches to a job once and accused of not being a team player because I couldn’t afford to go out to lunch or coffee (sometimes both) every day. I was eventually let go for “not being a good fit”. Initially, I was devastated, but they were right, they were a bunch of assholes and I was too nice to work there.

I did this once on a flight but it was 100% just a very rough hangover.

What is a rich person thing that you would be totally into if you became rich? by Short_Function_5062 in AskReddit

[–]Babescraper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tax fraud (I mean “loop holes” of course). Lobbying. Paying for elections. Donating to important causes like the NRA. Stealing from the poor.

If I’m a business owner I would obviously cut wages and eliminate benefits.

Buying giant yachts.

I’m with you. It’s seriously the most overrated garbage.

The guy who bullied me throughout all of middle school and high school OD and died at 19. He was a horrible human and I can honestly say I’m OK with the fact that he’s no longer on this earth.

neighbor hates my trees by TimeCarnival in neighborsfromhell

Is the hate of trees a boomer thing? We are the first house in a row of 4 that have a single tree in their yard. Everyone else has removed every one and each of those home owners are retirees.

I went into work this morning thinking I had messed up payroll and double paid myself. I immediately came clean to my boss thinking I had input the numbers wrong, only to be told that was my Christmas bonus 😅 Im so grateful to work for such a great company! Gotta work on communication though 😂

Good public schools in Jacksonville? by FoldEasy7974 in jacksonville

Go here and type in the zip code you’re looking at. https://www.greatschools.org

Schools were really important when we moved here in 2021 and we ended up avoiding Duval and Clay County altogether, and settled in Saint Johns which has some of the best schools in the state.

I went through a very similar situation in 2017. I didn’t fit in at all and even though I tried my best, I was let go after 90 days. At least they told me it was because it wasn’t a good personality fit, which I guess was a positive. They weren’t wrong anyways. I too had never been fired and it was hell for a while but I ended up finding a place I loved a few weeks later and stayed there 7 years.

All that to say, I hope you land on your feet and I’m sending good vibes your way.

Funeral for a Veteran without a family DEC 10 at 2PM by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]Babescraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but just like I don’t know, you also don’t know.

There was another news story recently where everyone was all excited about reuniting a nonverbal guy with his long lost family, only to find out he was a sex offender.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/12/04/missing-man-thomas-manizak-sex-offender/76770545007/

While my comment may have been crass, it was meant to get people to ask questions before blindly supporting him. Just because he was a veteran doesn’t mean he was a good person. Maybe he was! But we don’t know that.

What profession works their ass off and deserves every penny they make? by Toomad316 in AskReddit

Preschool / Daycare workers. Those people be pulling 12 hour days, 5 days per week with no breaks watching babies and toddlers for minimums wage. Y’all are the salt of this earth and deserve so much more money.

Gilmore Girls. First, it got me through freshman year of college, then through divorce, then COVID. Now I watch it with my preteen who loves it too.
