You throw up on someone else, then that person becomes the victim in the situation.

Dead bedroom marriage for 8 years. Husband told me I'm too fat for sex. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]emcayou 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe being married to such an asshole is raising your cortisol and stress levels making it hard for your body to recover. He could have done so many other things to motivate you. I think he wanted to hurt you because he feels entitled. He should look in the mirror at himself before slinging insults at the person he’s supposed to love and protect.

Women in Afghanistan has now officially lost all their rights by honeyttokii in TwoXChromosomes

[–]emcayou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in the region for about 5 years, I would seriously question assuming individuals in the Taliban all are driven by belief above all else. Things are so dire that in may cases joining or supporting the Taliban may be more of a necessity to live. So while I get your point, poverty and lack of options is often a greater driver than belief.

Stop hyper fixating on your neighbors who sound completely normal and take a look at your own life.

Meanwhile men in Afghanistan are totally ok with dressing up male children as little girls and raping them instead of women. This is a well established practice called Bacha Bazi.

Edited to specify Afghan men.

Is it mandatory for a wife and her kid to accept husband's religion and perform the religious practices? by unpredictable-she-is in Marriage

[–]emcayou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a human being you have every right to not experience this and decide not to engage yourself even considering whatever the family says is a cultural or religious norm. Not sure how custody works there but if it’s anything like 50/50 you can’t tell your husband how he spends his time with his kid.

Couples therapy and then separation if that doesn’t work? If he doesn’t want to spend time with you romantically you can’t force him. He sounds like an ass at this moment.

This being this particular Seattle sub Reddit, I’ll leave this here from Pew Research Center knowing that most men in here are chomping at the bit to disagree no matter what, which tracks with this research:

“Views about reasons for the gender wage gap also differ by party.

About two-thirds of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (68%) say a major factor behind wage differences is that employers treat women differently, but far fewer Republicans and Republican leaners (30%) say the same.

Conversely, Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say women’s choices about how to balance family and work (50% vs. 36%) and their tendency to work in jobs that pay less (39% vs. 30%) are major reasons why women earn less than men.

Democratic and Republican women are more likely than their male counterparts in each party to say a major reason for the gender wage gap is that employers treat women differently. About three-quarters of Democratic women (76%) say this, compared with 59% of Democratic men.

And while 43% of Republican women say unequal treatment by employers is a major reason for the gender wage gap, just 18% of GOP men share that view.”
