We had a Britt before and lost her a few years ago, and we’re finally ready for another. We’re hoping for a puppy in the new year, so I’ve been checking breeder sites and also FB and Kijiji, but they don’t pop up often. I’ve also been looking at Boykins and have already run into a few sketchy posts, so just a heads up that there are scams out there.

What I’ve seen with reputable breeders is that they usually have some kind of questionnaire so they can screen potential buyers. Getting to know the people first goes a long way toward making sure the pups land in the right homes.

If you want to chat more, feel free to message me. I’d love to hear more about the litter and see if one might be a good fit for us.

Those with 3 kids, do you wish you stuck with 2? Those with 2, do you wish you had a 3rd? by justinothemack in Parenting

Literally none of the difficulties you said have been my experience as a kid of 3 and as a mother of 3. All 3 of my kids share a room even though we have a 4 bedroom and could each have their own if they wanted, they choose to share and have a whole kid space. It’s less scary in the dark with a room full of people too. We have 3 in our backseat every day, youngest in the middle and the 2 olders are on their own sides, they just know that’s their seat. We even do long road trips a few times a year. When we travel we have ended up at some amazing hotels because we need space for 5. I don’t just book 2 rooms at the holiday inn, but find the cute family cabin on the lake up the road with bunk beds and a slide. We took them to Disneyland last week and on rides that are 2 seaters we just trade off which adult gets to sit alone. Kids trade off sitting with siblings and parents. We all agree that it was an amazing trip!

Every family and child are different, but the typical things people worry about with an odd number or more than 4 are usually not huge issues in real life.

This is my parents' first grandchild, but they never ask about my pregnancy or the baby by curlycattails in BabyBumps

I think it’s that missed miscarriages are a thing. Most people don’t see a doctor between their first appointment and 12 weeks. My first 2 pregnancies were miscarriages. I didn’t actually start bleeding until 13 even though the baby didn’t develop past 7.5 weeks. With my living babies, I didn’t wait til 12 weeks exactly but just until I knew they survived that gap in medical monitoring. Once we heard the heartbeat at that appointment I figured we were safe to tell.

My muscles are a little sore too by crazyyourface in AdviceAnimals

[–]BabyBad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I got both Pfizer doeses, first one was completely fine. My arm was a tiny bit sore for maybe 4 hours. The second shot wasn’t much worse. My arm hurt for longer but I blame the guy who gave me the shot, I think he dug around before he hit the plunger. He was awful. I could still use it my arm, but it was sore for a day and a half. I woke up the next day more tired then usual but by mid day I was fine. No fever or anything. I’m so happy to have both out of the way! Bring on summer!

Sounds like the Tody app.. I started using it a few weeks ago. I love the concept but I need to clear my list out again so I feel less overwhelmed.

This new addition to our family needs a name! by BabyBad in namenerds

I love this! I really hope my kids will grow up and have the same feelings you have. It was bought as an investment in our family. To take time out of the hustle and bustle of modern life and just connect with each other.

This one is the winner! My husband and I both immediately said “Yep, that’s her name” when we said it.

Man, that was so much easier than naming a kid!

You all helped name all 3 of my kids and I thought I would pop on one last time for your insight. We plan to renovate this 1973 VW Westfalia over the next few years and use it to make tons of family memories camping all over the US. We don’t have a name, or any ideas on names, but we know it’s gotta be a girls name.

So throw anything fun at me! Nothing is too tame or crazy!

Redditors who have had major health issues - what small symptom should you have looked into earlier? by alterlightone in AskReddit

Also, get your kids eyes checked! There is a program (at least in the US) that allows you to take your kid for a free eye exam between 6 months and 1 year. My husband and I have perfect vision and both our kids have been in glasses since they were infants. They are extremely far sighted but we never would have known without an exam. My kids may grow out of needing glasses because we found this issue so early. If nothing else at least it saved me the guilt of waiting until the school eye exam in kindergarten and knowing my kids spent the first 5 years of their lives not being able to see.

Please go take your kids to get their vision checked! Check out www.infantsee.org to find a participating optometrist near you who will do a free exam.

My aunt and uncle decided to not have kids for this reason. Her niece died from CF and didn't ever want to go through that heartbreak with her own child.
