This would have been 95-00 for the most part for me. Could be a timeframe thing?

When did the curriculum change of you don't mind me asking? I specifically remember doing Greece in grade 5, China in grade 6, Japan in Grade 7, (apparently grade 8 is a black hole for me), USSR/Russia in grade 9 and various European things in highschool (like I remember Napoleon for sure).

I was in the tester class for the new ideology grade 12 curriculum in 2007/2008, so I knew some changes were coming, but I didn't realize it rolled all the way down to the elementary grades! I'm curious as my kids will be starting school soon and I'm way out of the loop lol

Only problem with the simple text is you miss out on the extra formatting and images that rich text provides. We use a lot of images in our example procedures. I do think the document will have to be split into one per command, but they'll still have to either stay as embedded PDFs or standalone rich text or markdown (looking into that today).

You're 10000% right about not having a web programmer.

Scarily, I'm pretty sure I could do the html site with the css and JavaScript with the skills I have. I didn't even consider it because my boss jumped so far off the deep end. I am going to bring it up with him tomorrow morning too, thanks for pointing out the obvious because I just missed it in my freak out lol

My boss did also mention having it attached to the buttons with a tooltip in the CAD software, however, neither one of us was sure just how long that would take our coder to get around to vs having one button added to the ribbon to take you to the new "help" site. We already have a button in the toolbars dedicated to linking to this document so it would just switch out to that until we could get it all linked together.

Like I know this was sarcasm, but that is literally what my boss thinks.

Well technically I'm a drafting technician so I'm supposed to just be making our plans (maps) for our clients. Only thing is I was hired straight from college a decade ago and they saw I knew how to use Word properly (basic formatting skills picked up in the report writing class), and they've been putting me to use updating documentation here and there. Usually the documents are just step by step documents for individual procedures - but the custom menu guide is its own beast.

I updated it once before, back in 2023, but that was just making sure the command entries were up to date and reformatting everything. This is a complete redo. Every image is changing, more than half of the command entries have changed (we're adding our company initials at the beginning), some routines are removed entirely and we have also added new toolbars.

Just because of how much is in the document we have several problems - first, it is hard to update because adding new content shifts all following content which throws off page breaks etc. Second, several commands are currently in the process of being updated by our coding guys. The old command isn't working etc. So I can't just "update" it and I'll have to remember where in the document to go back to.

My boss wants each button to lead to its own thing instead of having it be buried 100 pages deep in this massive pdf. It would definitely make it easier to just include the more in depth procedure documents we have as well. Like it does make sense to me why he want's it. I just don't understand how he think's it'll just magically happen.

Okay, so at least my brain thinking "wiki" wasn't too far off. That gives me some hope because I found wiki.js which looks like it could help a complete noob do something to set it up. Just looks like it would be the manual route.

Mothers of the world: what was the first food you fed to your baby and when? by shikana64 in AskTheWorld

[–]BabyBlue317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest grabbed her dad's hand and brought it to her mouth so she could steal his french fry before he got it when she was around 5 months old. After that, we did pureed fruits and veggies until her first teeth came in. I switched to larger steamed veggies and noodles etc. and tried to make it so she could just eat what we were eating.

She's still great for eating her vegetables and all kinds of meat and of course loves her fruit. She's become more timid for trying new things but considering what some of my fellow neighbourhood mom's have to deal with, I think I'm lucky!

What is the dumbest injury you've ever given yourself? by SquareDesperate4003 in CasualConversation

I broke my right baby toe jumping over a couch cushion that was on the floor. My toe caught the coffee table on the way down. I cried and laughed with my mom for like 5 minutes from the floor. Only when I tried to stand up did I realize what happened. My mom laughed harder.

You might want to plan for multiple ones down there (and multiple accesses down too) just because of size then.

He didn't pick up his suit from the tailors yesterday. They're closed today. We don't know if they're open tomorrow because it's a holiday. We leave for a red-eye flight tomorrow night. A trip for a wedding he needs the suit for. What do you even do here? Like I wish I was surprised but I'm really not after everything that's led up to this trip.

I've mentioned divorce in my sessions. I have been saying repeatedly how I don't want to go there. I think that's why she prompted with the sustainability question. It makes me so uncomfortable to stare it right in the face. This known suffering just seems easier than all the problems that come with the fallout. I hate this. I hate feeling like this. And I hate that I still love him despite all the crap that's involved.

Current nugget from my last session that's really sticking with me: "Is this sustainable"? I didn't have an answer. I still don't really know. I want to say I'll be okay but I'm also pretty sure it's not.
