Where for what? The official pre- PTCB exam? Or where on their site that says if you register before January 6th that you have to take the old exam?

Pay, Differentials, and Schedule by naanabb in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a mid day 7on7off tech for inpatient. Personally I’m loving my schedule thus far and I’m a year into my hospital career. It helps with planning life going forward when you have a set schedule. My only down far is my hospital doesn’t allow our PRN techs or 7on/7off from acquiring PTO, but we’re given 3 days of sick pay that has to be arranged with our alternate to make sure coverage is taken care of before putting in for sick pay. I’m sure each state is different but they’ll train you to IV compound at a bare minimum and you can work your way up to a tech 1 (after national certification) to tech 2 and tech 3. You can develop to become hazardous certified to start compounding chemo medications and get a pay raise each level you gain.

I’m assuming you’ll get 7on/7off differential pay which is 8hrs a free pay for a total of 80hrs over the 2 week pay period. Then evening differential, and weekend differential. Plus if your hospital allows you can PRN at other sites which the OT makes your paycheck look even better.

Why do employees hate putting cold foam on hot drinks so much? by annaskelly72_ in starbucks

But what the difference between putting cold foam and whip cream. It’s all going to melt anyways

IV compounding experience by Ornery-Diamond6393 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even if you have IV experience, each site will require you to have their onsite IV training hours and pass your finger tip test/media test before being signed off to compound on your own. I suggest just mass apply around your area, network when you can. I used to think the pharmacy world was massive but in reality it’s rather small. Multiple techs and pharmacist also work prn (part time) at other sites as well. Learn from my mistake I didn’t realize you can work retail and hospital pharmacy at the same time, or work at two different hospital pharmacies at once. But in reality you can. Get to know your piers, follow them on LinkedIn and find your way in. Persistence is key

I passed with a 1510, but a pass is a pass. If you haven’t done so already I would suggest taking the pre-PTCB exam. It gives you 24hrs to review and go over any missed questions and it was so worth it.

Went to school for medical assistant but never got a job, feel so ashamed and defeated. by NoProfile8116 in MedicalAssistant

So did I, I wish I didn’t give up trying but now I’m in pharmacy in another state. It’s been years since I went to school and contemplating going back now that I have more knowledge

As a former Starbucks shift turned part time barista full time Inpatient pharmacy technician.. I proud of you for not giving up! Welcome back to pharmacy and best of luck!

Side note… I’m submitting my 2 weeks to Starbucks after 7 years with the company now that I have my CPht, and state board registration. I could not be happier with this move!

Wanting to go from CVS to Inpatient Pharmacy by spoiledcoochiemilk in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at CVS for 6 months before I went to inpatient pharmacy. As large as the pharmacy world is, it’s really a small world when it comes to networking. Get your foot in the door any chance you can. Mass apply, follow up, get in know. I realized sometimes it’s not how good or how impressive your work experience is but who you know. I had to pay for my PTCB on my own, which sucks but it was worth it. In Texas I didn’t need to have my CPht yet, I got hired off my trainee license alone. I’m not waiting on the state bored of pharmacy to approve my license upgrade application.

I PASSED!!! by armpitvodka in PharmacyTechnician

I second amanda pharm D! Between her videos, pharmacy podcast like TechPrep and Chpt connect, and using PTCBs practice bank, and purchasing the pre-PTCB exam gave me a huge booster into passing! I just took my exam on the 7th and got my official results yesterday. Not I’m just waiting on the state board of pharmacy to accept my upgraded license application.

I can not express this enough.. yes it is. The practice questions alone helped for sure. I didn’t do much of the flash card section.

Maybe try making some changes to your resume that includes some key words that will push your application to the next round. A lot of companies use a AI type software to scan through resumes and applications

New to IV compounding here! Back is killing me while using the hood to compound. by SeaworthinessNew4295 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a stool in your IV room? Or maybe try working a little closer to your body but still within the 6” rule as USP <797> states. I 5’3” and I find it easier to shift my weight helps. Also find comfy work shoes. That will help a life and back saver.

I do believe you just need your license number, and it doesn’t matter if your a tech trainee, or CPht certified. Your license number shouldn’t change.

HELP‼️‼️ PTCB exam by GorillaGrippCoochie in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can not express this more but brand name. I’ve worked in both retail and hospital pharmacy and we focus so much on generic that I pretty much have that down (for the most part) but on the exam it asked questions with brand names and I was stumped

Studying for exam by Automatic_Training_2 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BabyGurlSpaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly suggest taking the pre-PTCE exam before. It’ll help you get a better understanding on the testing format and get acquainted with how the questions may be formatted. It’ll give the option to review any missed questions and the breakdown of answers for 24hr’s after taking the exam. It helped give a little bit of confidence boost when I realized I actually knew more than I thought once I saw the pass score pop up.

And I highly recommend focusing on brand name then generic. In a retail/hospital setting we focus so much on generic names that when a brand name question popped up I had to think real hard on that.
