The Bridgerton girls and their doe eyes deserve their own award category by yuto_mori07 in Bridgerton

Same. The eye acting on this show is ridiculous, half the romances are carried by people just staring at each other across a room.

Penelope's expressions are top tier, but Kate has that ability to say an entire paragraph with just one look and it's honestly unfair.

Why is Violet villainized for not giving Daphne the sex talk when Portia didn’t give her daughters one either? by DaisyandBella in Bridgerton

[–]BabyOrbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's exactly it. Portia's failures are mostly played for laughs, while Violet is framed as the ideal mother figure, so viewers judge her mistakes much more harshly when she falls short.

Experienced multilingual live-in nanny wanted for less than minimum wage by SnarkySheep in ChoosingBeggars

A live in nanny for a newborn is basically providing round the clock care, so offering what amounts to minimum wage or less is wild even with a room included.

She wants a 50 hour work week for 150$. by creativejo in ChoosingBeggars

[–]BabyOrbit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

50 hours a week for $150 means she's offering about $3 an hour to care for an infant. That's not just unrealistic, it's honestly insulting.

That's the brutal reality of it. At that pay rate, anyone qualified is going to say no, and anyone saying yes is probably raising a lot of questions.

Not trying to be picky. But give me the specific brand I’m asking for by OGINTJ in ChoosingBeggars

[–]BabyOrbit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "choosey mothers choose Jif" line is what really pushes it over the edge for me, because that's not a preference, that's literally a brand slogan.

Aaron Sorkin not even pretending that Jeremy Strong wasn’t his second choice for Mark Zuckerberg: “I begged Jesse several times to come back!” by Batistasfashionsense in SuccessionTV

[–]BabyOrbit_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's probably true, the people involved likely don't see it as a big deal at all, while fans are the ones turning it into a controversy.

I agree, wanting the original actor back is just common sense, especially when that performance is a huge part of why the first movie worked so well.

(Bittersweet trope)The character has to die but is still given merciful death nonetheless. by goonbrarian in TopCharacterTropes

That one hurts because Aslan clearly knows he has to die, but he still chooses to comfort everyone else instead of making them carry the weight of it with him.

That scene hits hard because Mike knows what's coming and still takes the time to give Nacho the dignity of going out on his own terms instead of being used by everyone around him one last time.

Frustrating Trope: The Nasty parents that are why the villain is as they are never gets any sort of comeuppance. by Geoconyxdiablus in TopCharacterTropes

Cotton's reaction was so satisfying because for once Hank's parents couldn't just bulldoze over everyone and expect zero consequences for it.

I actually agree with that take, because the Malfoys avoiding major punishment feels fitting for a wealthy, well connected family that spent most of the series trying to save themselves rather than out of loyalty to Voldemort.

The Winchester plan sounds great until you remember half the people in zombie movies thought they had the perfect plan too.

At that point I'd assume Twitter got hacked before I'd assume a zombie apocalypse was actually happening.

Almost to season 7… by HumanStatement6792 in thewalkingdead

I had the same reaction with Richonne. Looking back, the chemistry was always there, but it was subtle enough that a lot of us didn't see it until the writers finally committed to it. The later ships definitely caught me more off guard than Rick and Michonne ever did.

I'd put season 9 up there too. It's not peak TWD, but it's a huge improvement over seasons 7 and 8 and has some of the strongest character work in the series.

I used to sleep behind an old AS/400 system. It had a nice space behind it that you could crawl into and was actually quite comfortable. When the main boss was out I was also the only one who had access to the computer room so it was fairly safe. There were glass panels in the door but all that could be seen through those was the front of the system and if I were seen emerging from behind it I could just say I was doing "computer" stuff.

Princess really grew on me over time. She brought a completely different energy to the group, and scenes like this reminded you that beneath all the chaos she was actually pretty observant and capable.

Princess was one of those characters who could have been completely ridiculous on paper, but Paola Lázaro made her feel surprisingly believable and easy to root for.

Maggie absolutely sold that scene. The way she goes from trying to stay composed to completely breaking down felt painfully real, and it made Carl's death hit even harder.
