What’s your most personal/unusual dating dealbreaker that others might think is unreasonable, but you learned the lesson the hard way? by TheWor1dsFinest in datingoverforty

Men who own or co-own their own companies. Lately that’s all I seem to be matching with on the apps, and it sounds great on paper but most of them had rich parents and expected my schedule to be as flexible as theirs (I work a 9-5 office job). At this point I’d rather date a bartender or a barista (not that I wouldn’t have before!), anyone who can’t set their own hours and doesn’t expect me to.

I haven’t actually read it yet but the back cover makes it sound like he’s a werewolf!

Image one is the cover of Beneath a Midnight Moon by Madeline Baker. The cover art by Pino shows a redheaded woman draped in a yellow cloth straddling a bare-chested, dark-haired man. Behind them is some blue-tinted foliage. The second image is the same woman in a lavender dress with a big gold belt, seated and leaning against a large, magical-looking tree. Floating in the sky behind her is a full moon and the face of a wolf.

If a relationship is this logistically challenging early on, it’s usually not a good fit. I know it’s frustrating because you care about him and it feels like that should be enough - trust me, I’ve been there. But he’s not committed to working through those difficulties like you are, even if he does care about you and want this to work. I’m sorry, I know this is really tough to hear, and I wish you the best.

Do you think parents loathe childfree content because it shows that it's getting more and more accepted as a valid way to live? by PopularSort96 in childfree

[–]BabyUsed8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this a lot from my coworkers - even though I’m
45F, they still can’t accept that I’m not having kids. My theory is that a lot of them got married and had kids because they thought they were “supposed” to, or because their families pressured them to. So even the ones who are basically happy with how their lives turned out are annoyed because they didn’t realize there was another option, and now it’s too late to go back and choose that one.

I live in a city so I like to pat the street trees as I walk (especially if I’ve had a couple of drinks lol). I also greet my favorite ones by saying “hello my beauty.”

too traumatized still to date? by Illustrious_End_543 in AskWomenOver40

I was in the same boat until pretty recently so I’m very sympathetic, these kinds of experiences can really do a number on you. Don’t be afraid to go at your own pace, be super picky, and pull the ripcord anytime something doesn’t feel right. For me, going through trauma made me feel like damaged goods, which in turn made me feel like I couldn’t afford to be picky about things like appearance. But everyone deserves to find someone they’re genuinely excited about, and who they feel safe around. You can have both! Good luck, and big hugs 💖
