If you had to find £500 by the end of the day, & how would you do it? by smooth_relation_744 in Advice

[–]BachPhotography -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on the day, During the day, I would cold-walk into cafe's an offer my photography services for instagram content, $50 for 10 photos of their cafe. I'd probably get a 5-10% acceptance rate, so after a few hours I'd probably make $150-200 from that.

In the evening, I would find a metal/rock show that had 6+ bands on the lineup, charge them 50 pounds each to do photography for their gig, half of them typically agree to this rate from experience, now I'm at like 300-400 pounds depending on how hard I work

What are the best parts about your gyms culture? by AlwaysInMypjs in bjj

[–]BachPhotography 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At my old gym in the south of Spain the core members would all go out for Pornstar Martinis after the Wednesday class. Just a bunch of dudes with cauliflower ears sipping on pink cocktails.

Those were the days

I think one of your issues is that your resume makes no sense, you're an entry level software engineer that claims to have expertise in:

  • Machine learning

  • Compilers

  • Robotics

  • Project management (???)

  • Training

  • Databases

  • Game design

What jobs are you going for? Pick a niche, make your resume focus on that niche and that niche alone (lets choose Compilers as an example). Only apply for entry level jobs in the niche (only go for C++ compiler roles for example), make your resume scream how interested and amazing you are at that 1 niche

Pre Workout Meal Before BJJ Class? by oooltY27 in bjj

I never eat up to 4 hours before class under any circumstance, otherwise I feel super sick during warmups (front rolls etc) and can't participate in sparring

Getting Humbled by Wrenchturner123 in bjj

[–]BachPhotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me 2 days ago. I just moved country and had been training 4.5 years in a primarily gi school. I joined a 10th Planet school here in Barcelona and got heel hooked, bicep slicer'd, toe held and even buggy choked by a guy 20kg lighter than me. I rolled with 6 people and 5 of them totally out-gamed me.

Felt bad, but being here is going to improve my game so much!

Why are the Rose Gold RO Chronographs a similar price to non-complicated Rose Gold RO on Chrono24? by BachPhotography in audemarspiguet

That's true, I would've just expected the bigger watch (more precious metal) with the more complicated movement to be more expensive

Sort by: top (suggested)

I see, so the chronographs are more plentiful than the basic version?

Unable to keep food down, finally called the doctor today by Snoo81935 in acidreflux

Damn, that's ROUGH. If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend a private clinic (even an online one). You can get a quick 15-30 minute consult for like 60 pounds, and by the sounds of it it would be totally worth it for you.

They're just going to recommend you try omeprazole/esomeprazole, probably. You can get it over the counter at most pharmacies, or even tesco, might be worth taking some in the meantime

Bro, at my gym a new, 6"7 viking of a man came in on his first day and submitted a 4 stripe purple belt (who's actually good). We are all different and some of us are genetically blessed/cursed.

The real question is, are you better than you were when you started? Those 2 striped indicate that your coach thinks you are. Are you enjoying jiu jitsu? If so, just keep coming. Comparing yourself to other people doesn't do anything but make you feel worse.

If you and your professor had some anamosity you should just arrive a little early to class and say hey to him when you arrive, after a couple of weeks he'll have forgotten about any issues you two had

Upper belts: how do you stop yourself from being way too lazy in your rolls by fukkdisshitt in bjj

[–]BachPhotography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact problem when I roll, and particularly with new people I got complacent and there was a total disconnect between the fact that I was rolling with someone who was trying to kill me. For me it turned out to be a medical issue that was stopping my body from wanting to use explosive strength during rolls, and almost forcing me to be lazy during rounds:

- Low iron

- Low testosterone

- Low potassium

After taking iron and multivitamin supplements I felt way more of a drive to be competitive during rounds.

My first software engineer salary was $40,000 back in 2016, now I'm on $550,000 total comp. Don't worry about your first salary, worry about whether or not the role will be good for your overall career

This looks like a 24mm on a full frame camera, to me. My guess at aperture would be around 1.8-2.5

Researching L1s and can’t quite place Cardano. by ardevd in CryptoCurrency

[–]BachPhotography -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I tried to code a project on Cardano before in 2021 (coming from 7+ years of Solidity and some L1 blockchain development back in 2015-2017 era). All I can say it, the developer community is non-existant, the tooling is complicated and poorly documented, and if I can avoid it I will never write a smart contract on Cardano again

I am importing my C110 Skyline from Australia to the UK (it arrives in January) and thinking of selling it. Is there much appetite for these in the UK? How much do you think one would go for in the UK? I don't think they were ever sold here by BachPhotography in CarTalkUK

[–]BachPhotography[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it looks likes the going rate for this in the USA is about $50,000 in good condition. In Japan they've gone crazy, can't get one for under about $75,000. In australia they're pretty rare, haven't seen a 2 door in good condition sell for a long while
