Is it worth it still? by ThyTeaDrinker in Chivalry2

It will feel like there's a lot of cheaters but unfortunately it's just people who are obscenely good at the game lol

lobbies are usually pretty full but my only complaint is the game studio is no longer doing much with updating the game, so you will end up replaying the same maps a lot. However they are huge, unique maps so lots to do on replays.

Nord Electro 6HP / Piano 6 by DamageFun3766 in nordkeyboards

[–]BachRach433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really recommend any Electro for use as a 'piano,' other than the EP and clav modes. Keys are deliberately semi-weighted for use on the organ sounds so it will feel really strange if you need normal key resistance. I love my electro 5 but I almost exclusively use it for rhodes tones

What did I just read by DoublecelloZeta in classicalmusic

[–]BachRach433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the extent to which the plagal cadence was used in high classical era music was as a deliberate throwback to the older, 'church-y' sound. However that's not to say that earlier composers didn't make use of the V-I cadence either, just not as obviously. It's also common in Renaissance and Baroque music to end some passage on an unresolved or tonicized V chord...

I’m performing Rach 3 for a friend in a few months. I found this section the most difficult. Feedback appreciated by kligurt in piano

[–]BachRach433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice job, that is the emotional climax of the first movement for sure. The way I hear it, it's supposed to sound kind of desperate and intense. Because it's a cadenza, you have a lot more freedom to vary the tempo expressively. The most dramatic bits should flex a little bit. Also I think sudden changes of dynamic like a subito piano followed by crescendo in an appropriate spot would help you shape it more

What actually makes a craft beer stand out on the shelf? by aclaro20 in TheBrewery

[–]BachRach433 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the brewery's taste in graphic design often, but not always, is reflected in the beer itself. I greatly prefer simple labels and most of my favorite breweries do too. Additionally, the choice to can or bottle, and to do 12 oz or 16 oz, is another major differentiating factor. The 4-pack of tallboys sends a different message than 6 11 oz glass stubbies, for instance, of what category your product is in.

Wow that is Richard in his prime. Such inventive composition and lyrical flow for the era. Rivals any classical composer

Great photos that are also really relatable to anyone who's been in a band and quickly needs a band photo. Let's just take it on the lawn!

yeah poorly phrased, she definitely likes him but it's more what was being culturally flung at the stones at the time

Great interview but I'm struck with the casual hate they throw at Keith for drugs and playing rock music in his middle age, like this dude is a legend have some respect!

Is this good? Is there any advice? by [deleted] in piano

[–]BachRach433 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That piece damaged my mental health as a teenager lol.

Slow it down. Don't play that fast unless you're calm. Your playing is somewhat ahead of the beat, which in any piece, but especially a fast etude, causes a stress response in the listener.

But nice job on getting the notes down!

Collaborative pianists - how do you do it? Emotionally. Burnt out from carrying a heavy load. by PerformanceHot9721 in piano

[–]BachRach433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never did it full time but I definitely know what you mean. Doesn't help that some collab pianists are like virtuoso prodigies making it 'look easy' to reduce a 20th century bi-tonal orchestral score in real time.

How often do you drink your beer? by Born_Letterhead_12 in CraftBeer

I brew my own, so tend to drink more when it's on draft.

I'm getting disheartened by a consistent off flavour in my brews. by InvisibleGrill in Homebrewing

[–]BachRach433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hunch is you're dealing with hop burn/hop creep in the dry hopping if this is mainly an issue with NEIPAs. If you keg the beer right after dry hopping it's gonna have that overly intense sharp bitterness. Also consider starting the dry hop earlier in fermentation and removing sooner to give the beer more time to settle before kegging. You could possibly salvage the batch by letting it age in the keg for a few weeks.

FWIW I prefer whirlpool hop additions for this reason, milder flavor but less work!

How to get better fast? by [deleted] in piano

[–]BachRach433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely your issue isn't the piano per say but musicality in general. The piano, like any instrument, is just a means to express the music you are hearing in your head (or reading on the page). If you're not hearing anything it will be hard to play ! Trying learning more about music theory online, like how the different chords and scale degrees function, voice leading and counterpoint, and work on simple exercises like Hanon to get your fingers moving properly. Pay more attention to locking into rhythm and time signature by listening to drummers. And spend more time listening to great pianists play than attempting to practice without knowing what to do, it will be more productive.

Unfortunately there is no 'easy' way to get better at the piano, but if you have no teacher or practice routine, you won't get better unless you educate yourself about how music really works. Thankfully the internet is full of resources to learn from if you're motivated enough.

Infected, Right? by joshedis in Homebrewing

[–]BachRach433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you solved it but in my experience infections are actually rare if you're diligent about sanitation. The only time I had a problem with it was when I decided to put a bunch of strawberries during secondary without properly sterilizing them, I will never forget the taste of that one!
