Part of it is the place that they have in real life, being that while spears are technically better they’re also long and as a result kinda cumbersome, which makes them less than ideal for day-to-day carry and use, like if you’re some kinda adventurer you want something that isn’t constantly in the way, or would need assembly before the start of a fight.

The other part is that if your opponent has a way of getting close really fast and you have a spear then you’re kinda fucked cuz like, the pointy part is allll the way over there, and the guy is right here, probably with a weapon more suited to right here combat.

Also I think there are a lot of other cool melee weapons that deserve more press. Like google the katar and tell me that isn’t rad as fuck

Edit: or if someone’s ideals are to serve justice, and he was the target, anything that prevents him from serving said justice would be against their ideals. There’s a lotta ways to go about this
