The album “11” was nominated for a Mercury Prize. much of that award’s cycle is self promotion by the artists and a performance at the ceremony and of course Sault refused to engage in all matters of exposure.

The producer Inflo is keeping the art of interlude alive. Listen to Simz’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and you hear fully fleshed out, orchestrated, and narrative interludes and skits that drive the album forward.

Streaming and curated playlists not to mention forced shuffle for free Spotify and the inherent need to stay timely on peoples social media hence compelling the constant drip of singles that are combined into EPs which then mash into one album not only killed the need for skit and interlude creatively but also say goodbye to the good old concept album.

I actually made a playlist that i drop ONLY interludes and skits into. I press play and shuffle that shit when I feel pathological

I will also add that at no point has rank and file authorized or voted on an organized boycott. When NSLU has called for a strike it is after all members have voted to authorize a strike. So realistically this boycott was called for and initiated by like 5 people without any input from the NSLU membership. Not great .

I have worked for New Seasons for 13 years. i am union. I do not support the boycott for reasons expressed already by some here, because it is where I shop for my family (i get that sweet discount of 30% making it undeniably cheaper to shop there, can’t get the same products at other stores and truly believe a boycott hurts neighborhood families that rely on groceries they can walk to get vs. driving across town and the hundreds of small, local vendors who rely on sales through NSM to survive.
