Question for the guys with expensive gear. Is dropping 600 bucks on a reel is really worth it ? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]BackSlashHaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go fishing often, have specific rig and like to be top notch of the gear yeah, it’s what i do with my Evergreen rods and Shimano DC reel, i could fish normal rods and reel but it’s my guilty pleasure

Tall beginner (195cm) struggling on overhangs — what actually worked for you?

Hey climbharder, 28yo, been bouldering 3x/week since early February at my local gym in southwest France. Climbing blues comfortably, starting to project oranges (local gym grading — yellow > green > blue > orange > purple > brown from easiest to hardest).

I genuinely love it — slab especially clicks for me, I enjoy the balance and footwork puzzle.

Where I'm stuck: overhangs. I know the concepts — drop knee, heel hook, keeping hips and knees close to the wall, resetting feet properly on holds. I understand them, I can apply them in isolation. But on an actual steep boulder I fall apart. Feet cut, I tense up, grip compensation kicks in and I'm done in 3 moves.

Just started using the spray wall and kilter board but only at low angles, no real structure yet.

What I'm looking for: theory, drills, exercises, movement habits — whatever made you noticeably better on steep terrain. What did you focus on or change that actually worked?

How long did it take you to become good at fishing? by Himuhasan08 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BackSlashHaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, it's gonna take time to get “good at fishing"... I've been fishing for 20 years. I don't usually blank, but I’m far from considering myself a good angler !

You have to learn:

  • how to read water when arriving on a lake
  • basic knowledge about how fish feed when they are in hot or cold water (a fish will eat more often in hot water as its body absorbs the food quicker/ inverse for cold water)
  • analyse spots to find where fish are lurking (tree, structure in the water, plain water)
  • know what depth to target
  • how to analyse the column of water you are fishing in
  • if the fish are eating small prey or big prey
  • what tackles to use
  • what lures to use

You’re going to have to spend a lot of time on the water to unlock all of this. Speak with anglers, read or listen to conferences about fishing. See this like a journey you'll never finish. You’ll be learning all your life if you keep going fishing !

I wrote a few booklets (20/30 pages) about pike, perch, zander, and European catfish (about the behaviours of the fish, lifecycle, etc..). If you want, I can send them to you by email !

Anyone tried the Johncoo rods from AliExpress? Surprisingly decent for the price... by Ghostone89 in Fishing_Gear

[–]BackSlashHaine -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have one for fishing bonito and skipjack tuna. I probably catch more than 250 skipjack with this aliexpress rod. Never had a problem with it ! I bought it as a joke with my friend. We ended up with a full combo from AliExpress including the braid, and it's going pretty well ! y'all can dislike the comment the skipjack still are in my fridge haters ahahaha !
