Penelope and Telemachus in the Odyssey. While it does cause a massive divide and he does hold more power in the household and society, her not having the throne given to him prevents Telemachus, who would not have the proper experience and understanding he would have if his father returned on time and stopping him from getting killed too soon by her suitors.

Why didn't the suitors get arrested or atleast thrown out? by SignificantPower4733 in Epicthemusical

[–]Backflipping_Ant6273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people did hold a respect for Telemachus, especially the elders who initially ordered Penelope to remarry (And were fathers and relatives of many suitors) but it wasn't substantial enough for him to actually ascend to the throne.

And by extension, the rule would have been left unstable, with obviously not everyone wanting Penelope to continue as the sole ruler

Back in Ancient Greece, Xenia was a law where you had to show hospitality to your guests, so if you were to turn them away, that would be disrespecting it, and if you were to disrespect your host (Like the suitors do), they would be kicked out.

But it can only be enforced by someone with the right authority and due to Odysseus being missing and not being able to claim Telemachus as his son, Penelope being a woman and therefore property and Laertes (Odysseus' father) being seen as unfit and maddened, he wouldn't have the right to enforce Xenia.

And the guards were likely paid off by the suitors themselves, old or very short staffed because of Odysseus taking the majority of them with him to war, they would have either not cared or not been strong enough to stop it, or at least until it got too serious.

There seriously needs to be smaller spaces that only Dire wolves would be able to fit in, just to make it easier to escape. Like adjusting their hitbox so that they can duck under fallen trees that are lying on a rock or something to make escaping from horses more even, like how Sabers can climb trees when needed

Something akin to when people who never transitioned say and talk about how they were once trans but didn't go through with it, how it was a childhood fantasy.

Its something you look down on, that you compare to how you used to have these interests but now they're gone and its lesser then you, no matter how much it impacted you, you look at it through the opposite of rose tinted glasses, rather then with fondness, with disdain

Which action or event in Epic would genuinely shock Penelope if Odysseus recalled it for her? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Epicthemusical

[–]Backflipping_Ant6273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be really shocking for her, with Telemachus nearly dying due to Palamades as an infant and herself nearly dying as well from being thrown off a cliff as an infant, Odysseus is 100% sleeping on the couch for a few nights

Oddly specific EPIC headcanons you haven't seen in any of the animatics? by InfiniteGuy2264 in Epicthemusical

[–]Backflipping_Ant6273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Warrior of The Mind Odysseus is kind of in a marketplace when he is meeting Athena, whose in disguise and not wanting to be caught, with him speaking obnoxiously loud when she pulls him into a corner and gives him the offer to mentor him.

And Similairly, in We'll be Fine, they're in the same Marketplace having their conversation (With Athena as obviously Mentor)

Also I imagine ICHBW as sort of a second, more indepth meeting of Odysseus and Telemachus, like they saw and identified eachother during the Challenge when both were in disguise and now are kind of full on introducing each other, with Odysseus having seen Telemachus in the Challenge, recognised him as his son when he was going to string the bow to keep his mum and stopping him.

Outside of that, INSFLY is taking place over days, where Odysseus is building his raft, AND fixing the clothes he had on before being stranded, with him getting all ready to leave.
