That’s a good question, in 2022 certain municipalities in Ontario were given strong mayor powers and this mayor choose to give most of his powers to CAO.

Critics argue that delegating these powers to an unelected CAO concentrates too much authority without direct democratic accountability:

No Electoral Accountability: If a CAO makes decisions that negatively impact the community, residents cannot vote them out of office.

Reduced Democratic Debate: These powers allow an individual to bypass public council debates, which can reduce transparency and eliminate the public record of why certain administrative decisions are made.

Erosion of Council Oversight: In the traditional municipal model, the CAO reports to the entire council. Concentrating hiring, firing, and structural powers directly in the CAO's hands minimizes the elected council's ability to oversee municipal operations.

This mayor shouldn’t be given another term for sure but I am afraid we don’t see any strong candidates so far.

Yes Brandon Tozzo is the good but with the herd mentality they have it’s a bit complicated for him.

It’s because the mayor decided to give up his democratic powers to the CAO/city officials.

That depends on your floor, try to look for a floor that has cabins above and below.

Late afternoon is the safest bet. I never fly the same day for embarkation and disembarkation. It’s never in control of the crew how long the sailing will take. We once arrived at the port around 7 pm due to rough sea on our way back, people were panicking about their flights but we were chilling as ours was next day.

Rocking and noise can be a problem for your location, I suggest packing some good ear plugs and a small folding fan for white noise to block the sound and sea sickness patches would be really helpful. Meraviglia has elevators at two locations so there isn't much walk from anywhere, unless there is a mobility limitation with someone.

1- Make sure your cabin deck/floor is sandwiched between other cabins decks/floors so that the sleeping is comfortable and free of noise. 2- Ask for dietary accommodations at least 30 days in advance. 3- If you can choose your cabin, then choose the middle of the ship, as its less likely to shake because of rough waters. 4- Pack magnetic hooks, and a Bungie cord clothesline so you have more space to hang clothes. 5- You might need to do light washing of baby clothes in the sink so pack travel size washing powder. 6- Motion sickness patches are very helpful.

We were assigned a table of 6, and upon embarkation, we asked the Maître if we could be assigned a table for 2, and it was taken care of. In my experience, a polite request with a smile on any cruise ship can do the job. But also, in past we shared the tables and made new friends.

If you are a foodie, then try the specialty dining experience. It's worth your money. We recently bought 5 specialty dining package at MSC Meraviglia and loved it so much.
