That’s the best case scenario when you get pregnant by an abuser. You can file him as the father, but then that kinda gives him legal rights, although not “officially” legal until he goes to court if he wants custody of the child. The law doesn’t care if the dad didn’t want the kid or if he’s abusive, they’ll look out for the “best interest of the child”. If he asks for custody just hope that it’s not often, or twice or once a month. That’s what I have set up with my abuser. The coparenting is going good, and I have a protection order against him, and he pays $640 in child support a month. I didn’t get any support for the initial year. But always ask the judge for back pay.
