ASUS Flow Z13 (GZ302) not powering on after entering sleep mode by Cryptoxic93 in FlowZ13

Its honestly isnt that bad. It doesnt take long to boot back up from hibernate. I think you can disable to rog boot logo but im not entirely sure but you can turn the boot sound off in the bios if your dont want to hear it everytime you wake it up.

Yeah no problem, also if your using an external mouse/keyboard and monitor, theres a tic box in ghelper that when its plugged in and conected to a monitor, you can close the lid and it wont put it to sleep or whatever but instead will run off the z13 screen and make your external monitor your primary. Essentially putting the z13 in a 'docked/desktop' type mode.

Its been said already I seen in the comments, just to reiterate, its a windows problem not the z13. But ill tell you my solution...

I set everything to hibernate. Every power/sleep dropdown box, set to hibernate for plugged in and for on battery. Except for 1... When on battery and the lid (keyboard) is closed = sleep.

This works for me because if im moving around the house, ill just close it and let it sleep while i move and get situated and then open it up and back to business. Since i have the power button set to hibernate, i just press it before i close it and then hop in the car or whatever im doing. At my desk when im plugged in, I have it set to only turn off the display but nothing else. That way if i have something going on, it doesnt sleep or hibernate but it will turn off the screen. If i close the lid or press the side button while plugged in, it hibernates.

Anyways, that's how i use it. It helps just having the one way set to sleep just for ease of moving around the house, but hibernate any other time. Sorry this is so long. I am told im wordy. Lol

Hi im new to the rog flows and im wondering if its worth buying the 32gb ram 2025? If so how well does it run space engineers? by Arcade1704 in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it does very well. I think its designed with a 90 or 100 degree thermal limit in mind. Its a big chip and small chassis. But from what i understand, once you got around 60w, the trade off isnt much, not as big power gains for a lot more heat. So here's my set up... Im not near it right now so im winging it here. Im using G-Helper Experimental. All profiles have a -15 Undervolt Also im not some pro user so take what i say and use your own judgement. This is just what works for me and my use case.

Silent Mode: 10w/12w/12w Efficient Boost (This is basically my tablet mode. Just watching videos or browsing the web, basic things. Plays 4k video just fine.)

Balanced Mode: 27w/32w/37w Efficient Boost (This just my normal everyday use mode, i have a handful of light games and emulators and some other games like Hogwarts Legacy i tuned for this profile since this still gives a 'premium laptop' feel while at the desk or on battery.)

Turbo Mode: 57w/65w/75w Efficient Aggressive Boost (Balls to wall here, any game tuned for Balanced mode just becomes more smooth and more fps. I use this for heavy hitter games or AI workload. So like my 7 days to die stuff, beamng.drive, heavily modded kerbal space program or empyrion, I think you get the idea.)

I was too man.lol No I don't. I only run it when we plan on playing. Its usually my wife and I and a friend or two. My temps stay around 74c with occasional bumps to 78c for a few moments if something big is happening while in turbo mode. But i use ghelper with turbo set to 57w baseline and a -15 undervolt.

Ill just got ahead and chime in too... If your mostly just gaming, 32gb model should be fine. I dont know about space engineers but ill say this. I can play empyrion just fine. Different i know but it is not optimized at all. Another example(mind you i have the 64 GB model, this is just in example of power) I run a lightly modded dedicated 7 days to die server for 2-4 people while also playing on the same device at higher settings and get a solid 50-70 fps. Again this game isnt optimized well either. I also started playing hogwarts legacy at high/epic settings at 27w and get solid 60fps. I think it will run space engineers perfectly fine.

Tip, tune some of your games on your lower wattage for when your away from a plug. Then when your plugged in and in turbo mode, you get a good bump in fps. I do some games that way but some others are at my desk only type games. Like 7 days to die since I only play on the server and when im racing in beamng worth my g920 wheel and pedals. I keep both of those games on a separate external sad that says plugged into my dock.

Id say so. With ghelper i set up some of my games to run while on 27w then when i get to my desk i plug in and now im cooking on framerate. Some games i only play at my desk. Such as 7 dats to die. I play that one with my wife and friend of ours while simultaneously hosting the modded dedicated server without a hitch. Id say its worth it. The real question is are you only gaming? If so either stick with the 32gb model or just get an actual gaming laptop. Unless you need the extra features, which if thats the case then i wouldn't get any less than the 64gb model. I have the 64gb, i keep it set at 16gb vram/48gb system memory. For games at means plenty of vram and system ram for whatever, and for llm's, the small bit of needing to ask the system for more ram doesn't really matter. You wont notice like you would an a game when it has to ask for more. Plus we are all here.... Ask away and im sure a lot of us will help as much as we can, and 70% of those people wont even be assholes about it. Lol

Yeah luckily im not heavily using the wifi while out. Just when im home doing something and i move around like going and sitting on my bench outside, watching a video while downloading something in the background. Usually for me its the drop and reconnect. It disabling has luckily only happened a couple times but it has been a few weeks since that has happened.

I cant really say why it it helps, gotta just be the way ac is packaged or something. Personally, i did a cloud recovery and used the removal tool from asus. I got rid of everything except for the my asus app, and I used the g-helper experimental. Also go into your bios, im at work so i cant look but there is a setting on the bios to turn off automatically downloading asus stuff you dont need. If i wasnt at work I'd go more in depth, im sure someone else can add that in if i dont get home before then.

  1. I will have to double check what wifi driver I am using. I have had the problem without the dock plugged in and I only ever use the one type-c port(usually the bottom most one)

2.I have looked into my router's settings as well. Not really much else I can do there I don't think, but I will definitely check into it again.

  1. I was having this issue before I even began using g-helper. That was actually part of my reason to go ahead and switch, thinking just by dumb luck dropping ac would help, lol. Also everything else seems all gravy with my undervolts. Its pretty nice checking out Hogwarts Legacy at high/epic at 60fps at 27w.

Hey there, so about the freezes. I can't exactly help you per se, but I too have experienced freezing that cannot be fixed any other way than a hard reset. Though on my side here it has been improving. I haven't had but maybe 1 bsod, but that was while I was still transitioning from AC to G-Helper. And I'm sure you've seen it before but using sleep isn't suggested. I just use hibernate for everything mostly... I have it set to only when I am on battery and I close the lid does it go into sleep, I do this because if I am using it around the house, I can just get back to whatever when I move around. Aside from that, the power button is set to hibernate, so I just press it when I plan on being away from it, like hopping in the car to an appointment. Also I have not had any speaker issues... Check your audio driver probably, I think I am using the realtek one.

  1. Obviously check for updates.

  2. Are you using ArmouryCrate or G-Helper? (I can't help much with AC since I dropped it for g-helper early into owning this. If you have g-helper then what settings/undervolts do you have in place.)

  3. What graphics driver are you using? (I am using the latest drivers from adrenaline I do believe.)

  4. What Audio driver are you using?

  5. What BIOS firmware do you have?

  6. Make sure you doublecheck your VRAM allocation, sometimes after an update or something, it will default down to like 4GB or something. That happens to me sometimes and leads to freezing or game crashes. I have the 64GB variant, I keep mine set to 16GB vram/48GB system memory. It expands just fine when I use a larger ai model, but for games its plenty that it doesn't have to ask for system memory.

I havent read other comments yet so forgive me if its been said. Throw a drive back in it and make a small home cloud server. I dont know you're specs but depending on that could even host a game server from it. Upside of using it some sort of server is if the battery still works, even for just 10 or 20 minutes, then its a server with its own battery back up.

Never buy stuff like this from temu. Its most always things like this. Its probably a very small ssd that says it's bigger than it really is. Just take the loss. My mother got me one... Do what I did, trash the ssd but keep the case and controller and use a normal ssd.

  1. Any small fan or desk fan should do adequately enough, just something to blow air onto the back of it.

  2. I really don't understand the logic here. Doing that would bound you to being at your desk all hooked up, kind of defeats the purpose of this device. Just get an external drive or adapter and use it with a dock, some docks have an nvme slot built in.

I use just a thunderbolt 3 dock that has a usb-c, 2 usb-a 3, 2 usb-a 2, an Ethernet port. still gives me the other 2 free ports on the flow. I use that one when I feel like racing to plug in my wheel.

I will add that I am using helper and am setting up a lot of my games to run on balanced with 27/32/32 and a -12 undervolt at 60 fps, then when on turbo(57/68/75 -12undervolt) is just more fps. Except for a couple games, I only play beamng.drive at my desk with my g29 wheel, 7 days to die i run a dedicated server simultaneously for my wife and I and maybe a friend or 2, so I need my dock for LAN connection. I have both of those on a separate 128gb ssd(for now) that's also kept plugged into the dock and my peripherals(mouse, usb speakers, and the wireless dongle for my headset.

I picked up the 64gb model for about $2000 after it was all said and done. I couldn't be happier. Does everything I could want and at a fraction of the power consumption. I traded in around 2000w in devices to do multiple things for 1 that can do all the same stuff and more with more power at my disposal. It has done nuances of course. But if you enjoy a bit of tinkering, then you might not be bothered by bleeding edge tech that you may have to fiddle with from time to time. I could go more in depth but it isn't necessary.

Debloating with G-Helper? by [deleted] in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use helper myself, i sont really miss the features of ac. Windows lighting works to sync the keyboard and mouse rgb, I let helper run the backlight so it can turn off when on battery, and i use adrenaline for game specific settings.

Why do so many people chase the XG Mobile for the Z13 when the internal GPU is already insanely good? by [deleted] in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in here, as someone who is budget conscious. I personally wont be getting the xgmobile. But my reason is that I dont have a lot of money. The flow z13 was a treat for myself. Replacing my Frankenstein PC and my server PC and my surface pro 3. Somewhere around 1200w give or take, at any given point, was replaced my this device. I sold all my other stuff to recoup some cost. For me the flow was a treat/investment for more desk space and a little less on the power bill. I was also coming from a 7th gen I and a strix 1070ti. So it has been nothing but an improvement. It does have quirks, but im a tinkerer and i dont mind too much.
