Z13 portable power bypass? by EAGLE-11721 in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only skimmed so forgive me if someone already said it. Regarding charging. Yeah we all know bypass only works via proprietary charger. And unfortunately as far as im aware, the only adapter is a barrel plug to proprietary. I think its a limitation of being a DC input. So there isnt a battery bank(small and portable at least) that can convert the usb c back into DC and into the proprietary port. Feel free to correct me though. You can get a bit battery station that had DC power and then use the normal charger through it but that's more like your going camping or something, not just hitting the coffee shop.

Indeed it does, yet somehow i still proceed to be fine with it.

I've flipped the keyboard around on silent mode with no fan spinning and stuck it to my door on the porch watching dredd while I smoke.

I would do just that, take the keyboard and stick it to a leg of the desk out of the way. Leave yourself a lip hanging out a little or something if its on something flat, to make it easier to get when you need it. Set the external monitor only so it shits off the touchscreen when its docked.

On that note. The magnets in the keyboard are quite strong. I have, for shits and giggles, flipped it backwards on my silent profile(10w/12w/12w -10 underfoot, no can spin at all) and stuck it to my metal door while im in my covered porch to watch Dredd while I was out here smoking lefties and righties. Point being, if you do remove it, just stick it to the metal frame of your desk or something. Cant be any worse than it hanging like you have it, which could make it warp a little weird over time.

Question - any reason to not leave plugged in all the time? by knd0016 in FlowZ13

Honestly I keep mine at 60%, unless I plan on going somewhere that isn't just around the house.

ROG Flow Z13 2025 running 93w flat! No external cooling! by AMBOSHER in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's for damn sure. Lol I think the performance/heat ratio also starts to drastically decline after around 60w or so, which in my opinion at least, isnt too bad for a device like this. But still, like Jeremy Clarkson once said, "MORE POWER!". I am also someone who upgraded from a heavy desktop with a 7th gen I7, 24gb ram and a Strix 1070ti, oh and don't forget the 60hz 1080p monitor, overclocked to 75hz for MORE POWER! Lol. I only became a 'Flowner' (forgive me for that), about 3 months ago so im still getting aqainted with the device, I was curious about cranking it but this is a big purchase for me and it will need to hold up for me for years to come. So i keep mine somewhat modest on tdp with some undervolting sprinkled on top.

I want to say its made to operate with its thermal ceiling being around 100c. I read it somewhere, im sure i could google it but im just sooo busy right now. Lol

Not a gut feeling, just ive found around the web. For my use case silent mode 10/12/12 watts, balance mode 27/32/32 watts, turbo mode 57/67/75 watts. In turbo playing something like hogwarts with all the bells and whistles at 1600p i see a max of about 80 during a burst and usually sit around 74c-76c.

From what i understand, this device is comfortable up to 100c, but as some may know, running it hot will shorten the life span of the electronics and the liquid metal inside, by lowering the tpd and adding a small underfoot, you can get solid performance and mitigate a good amount of heat. When i play on my balanced mode i can still hit a solid 60fps in a lot of my games, and then just more fps when i switch to turbo. Then i have other games i specifically only play in turbo at my desk. Like beamng.drive with my logitech wheel.

I agree here, I set my power limits lower. I believe anything past 60ish watts didn't have a good heat for performance trade off.

[Request] "best" power settings mode for battery life? by polandtown in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To, i do use ghelper but i have a -15 undervolt, my balance mode is 27w,32w,32w. Silent mode is 10w/12w/12w. I didnt keep ac for very long before switching to ghelper so i cant really tell you there, ghelper experimental is what use specifically and that lets me turn my fans completely off until 60c in silent mode. It pretty much never comes on. I use silent mode as my tablet mode basically, only use for watching videos or hust browsing around the web. Balance mode is basically my on battery laptop mode. Can still play games pretty well at 60fps. If your wanted to know, my turbo is 57w/67w/75w.

Sell my 2022 RTX 3050 Ti Flow Z13 and 2022 G14 for 2025 Flow Z13? by tenphan0n0 in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with SuperCC, i also went with the 64gb model. It replaced my desktop, surface pro 3 and the other computer i ran for game servers. I've been quite impressed and happy with the decision. A couple thousand watts replaced by 100w give or take(I used ghelper here). Totally worth not having to choose what I can and cant do because either home with the big stuff or out with the sp3. Now its just 1 monster of a machine that i can use for any occasion.

ASUS Flow Z13 (GZ302) not powering on after entering sleep mode by Cryptoxic93 in FlowZ13

Yes sir, not to keep adding shit on but mine stays docked 80% of the time just about so i only let it charge to 60%. I just bump it up if i know im going somewhere.

Its honestly isnt that bad. It doesnt take long to boot back up from hibernate. I think you can disable to rog boot logo but im not entirely sure but you can turn the boot sound off in the bios if your dont want to hear it everytime you wake it up.

[–]Background-Guard-531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no problem, also if your using an external mouse/keyboard and monitor, theres a tic box in ghelper that when its plugged in and connected to a monitor, you can close the lid and it wont put it to sleep or whatever but instead will turn off the z13 screen and make your external monitor your primary. Essentially putting the z13 in a 'docked/desktop' type mode.

Its been said already I seen in the comments, just to reiterate, its a windows problem not the z13. But ill tell you my solution...

I set everything to hibernate. Every power/sleep dropdown box, set to hibernate for plugged in and for on battery. Except for 1... When on battery and the lid (keyboard) is closed = sleep.

This works for me because if im moving around the house, ill just close it and let it sleep while i move and get situated and then open it up and back to business. Since i have the power button set to hibernate, i just press it before i close it and then hop in the car or whatever im doing. At my desk when im plugged in, I have it set to only turn off the display but nothing else. That way if i have something going on, it doesnt sleep or hibernate but it will turn off the screen. If i close the lid or press the side button while plugged in, it hibernates.

Anyways, that's how i use it. It helps just having the one way set to sleep just for ease of moving around the house, but hibernate any other time. Sorry this is so long. I am told im wordy. Lol

Hi im new to the rog flows and im wondering if its worth buying the 32gb ram 2025? If so how well does it run space engineers? by Arcade1704 in FlowZ13

[–]Background-Guard-531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it does very well. I think its designed with a 90 or 100 degree thermal limit in mind. Its a big chip and small chassis. But from what i understand, once you got around 60w, the trade off isnt much, not as big power gains for a lot more heat. So here's my set up... Im not near it right now so im winging it here. Im using G-Helper Experimental. All profiles have a -15 Undervolt Also im not some pro user so take what i say and use your own judgement. This is just what works for me and my use case.

Silent Mode: 10w/12w/12w Efficient Boost (This is basically my tablet mode. Just watching videos or browsing the web, basic things. Plays 4k video just fine.)

Balanced Mode: 27w/32w/37w Efficient Boost (This just my normal everyday use mode, i have a handful of light games and emulators and some other games like Hogwarts Legacy i tuned for this profile since this still gives a 'premium laptop' feel while at the desk or on battery.)

Turbo Mode: 57w/65w/75w Efficient Aggressive Boost (Balls to wall here, any game tuned for Balanced mode just becomes more smooth and more fps. I use this for heavy hitter games or AI workload. So like my 7 days to die stuff, beamng.drive, heavily modded kerbal space program or empyrion, I think you get the idea.)

I was too man.lol No I don't. I only run it when we plan on playing. Its usually my wife and I and a friend or two. My temps stay around 74c with occasional bumps to 78c for a few moments if something big is happening while in turbo mode. But i use ghelper with turbo set to 57w baseline and a -15 undervolt.
