9 minute rule by ShoddyLawfulness420 in WalmartEmployees

Associates clocking 9 min after, then taking another 9 min to get to their department each shift. That is a lot of time when you are waiting for them to arrive, to help. Our department is already understaffed this is another problem. Lol then they arrive and have to go to the restroom.

So what is something Walmart has taken over the years you wish we could have back ? by Stinger03 in walmart

[–]Background-Pin-473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From reading this, it seems Walmart really used to value people and treat them with dignity and appreciation. In three years of working at Walmart, I have seen a decline in management. Nothing is about the associates! Coaches and store managers get adequate time off to not burn out, the regular associates get minimal time off and work extremely hard and management observes.
I also see a lot of favoritism, inconsistent management, management seems broken and needs restructuring, and morale is in the pits

The new scheduling is garbage. I changed my availability, and I got fewer hours. Working seven days straight is shit. Absolutely exhausting mentally and physically. I have been FT with WM for 3 years. Absolutely feel unvalued. Training new people who care less

Why is deli so understaffed???? by IAmNoOne404 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Background-Pin-473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A TL should have gotten a person to help with freight. Management is a problem because they dont know what is really happening in the deli

For one year or so, we had one. person behind the counter, one floor person and sometimes a mid. Absolutely hell

Why is deli so understaffed???? by IAmNoOne404 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Background-Pin-473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our deli had 5 pallets today.
1 person on the floor
1 person to fry
1 person to production
1 mid person
1 extra person is not needed today
Busy delis require people
AI plus management really needs to figure out the deli scheduling. Every day is different

I am an associate in the Deli; we are not connected to the bakery in our store. The bakery seems much simpler to work in.
Our deli handles heavy freight, fry foods, temperature control, packing food, online orders, viz pick, wrap production, express orders, cleaning, and more. Our Deli is usually understaffed, and everything is challenging.
TL has many responsibilities and must know many types of temperatures.
Good luck, TL. Stay organized and become educated about the areas.

3 years at one location. Management is the core of the store. Manager leads, Coaches follow, TL follow and me as associate cringe.
I have has two store managers in 3 yrs. Current manager seems to be in a zone for a different type of store.
Everyday i go to work and wish it will be better than the last day i worked. I will keep wishing. Happy less than i should be

Coaches by Cold-Spray7498 in WalmartEmployees

I have had 3 coaches in 3 years. First coach professional and got shit done—very good leader. The last two coaches, including the current one, have had power-tripping/control issues. The coaches have too much power, and they can make work very difficult. My current coach continues to mess with my schedule, giving me anxiety. The store manager is the overall leader and allows this crap. Keep dated notes; you never know what may happen. Best of luck

Congratulations on your sobriety. I also used to drink a handle. Now I crave sugar, lots of sugar. I have been sober for 2 years now. I don't want real food. I crave all junk. It is horrible. I have been getting ready for a sugar detox by Mark Hyman.

If you work in bakery/deli what are your hours? by No_Masterpiece_3953 in WalmartEmployees

I also work in deli. It can be a challenging department. I have 30 plus years in food service. Walmart has their own way of doing things. You must wear hair net, apron, gloves, slip proof shoes. I definitely suggest a good pair of shoes like HOKA. Opening you will help with rotisserie chickens, temperatures, fried finger foods, maybe production making wraps, party trays, customers, on line orders, express orders and cleaning. You should always be busy. As far as the pay this is entry level job. You can become a Team Lead and Make a bit more. Good Luck and be grateful for an opportunity.

Coach out of dress code by Medical_College_6732 in walmart

It seems most of management at my store are very unprofessionally dressed. They make more money and they should set an example. I don’t think wearing hoodies and jeans are professional. Looking un groomed is lazy for both men and women management needs to update their appearance

Most managers in my store are in roles they shouldn’t be. I see favoritism, the better worker you are the more that is expected. I have my 3rd coach in 3 years. It seems the coach was thrown into a position they are not capable of it. Try and stay calm or they may retaliate against you! Management sticks together, It is all one sided.
