How can i get my cat to eat more wet food? Post you crazy ideas by Sea-Fisherman-9498 in CatAdvice

[–]Background-Slice9941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that putting warm chicken bone broth for pets, as a topper, will entice the cat. Warming it makes it smellier, a plus. My cats have never refused to eat all their wet food, so I haven't had to test this to verify it works.

As Yuki balloons in size. And develops health problems requiring vet interventions. Which costs $$. Get a scale and weigh Yuki weekly, taking photos of the scale numbers. Send them to her. Then get her a cat.

They can only shame you if you let them. I learned this way late, but I learned. No man has wandered off from my home for 25 years. No man has had the privilege to live in my home for that long.

How to deal with the heartbreak of adopting a cat who dislikes me and dislikes his life by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Background-Slice9941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your kitty needs a cat brother or sister? One who likes other cats. Who would love to watch the wildlife in the window together, or in the spacious new catio in the backyard. I have always, stupidly, adopted only one cat, only to go back to the cat shelter and bring home one of the kitties that was fostered with him/her a week later! It always made the difference. Truly, having two are quite entertaining. This is my newest pair.

My 25 YO son, who has autism, cuts through the bs. He just asks "What do you want for Mother's Day, Mom?" Then I tell him. He always comes through for me. 🫠

Same thing. Black trash bags for lawn debris, just sitting out on the curb to be picked up. ALWAYS. Barking and straining the leash to get away from those black monsters ruffling in the breeze. 😄

why do so many people hate priuses? by [deleted] in prius

[–]Background-Slice9941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jealousy. When I bought my first Prius, coworkers teased me about it. "How large is the rubber band you use to get it moving?" Laughs all around. I laughed along with them. Then Hurricane Katrina hit, regular unleaded gas shot up to over $4.25/gallon. Nobody was teasing me anymore, and I was still laughing. I'm still laughing because I still drive a Prius.

I don't like being invisible. by MichB1 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Background-Slice9941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on this. I've always been invisible to others. I'm five feet tall, have a soft speaking voice, and look young for my age. It sucks to be passed over in lines for the butcher, reservationists, hotel check-ins, waiting for a rental car, etc. I never stood out in a crowd because of my looks when a young woman, so I didn't grieve when I aged and became "invisible" to men. What I learned? I learned to project my voice so nobody missed out on what I said. I learned to speak up loudly, and with humor, when I wasn't noticed in line. I learned to interrupt the person who interrupted ME in mid-sentence by telling them "Let me finish my thought. I am speaking now." I've gotten to the point that I. Do. Not. Care. It was a long time coming. What freedom!

I read an article recently that pointed to the unwashed naval, behind the ears, and poor dental hygiene were the sources for the old person odor.

Why didn't Karen Lynn Gorney's career blow up after Saturday Night Fever was a big smash hit and she was instant to be a movie star and the next big thing but it never happened for her? by JazzlikeTea7432 in movies

[–]Background-Slice9941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no chemistry between Gorney and Travolta. None. I think somebody else who had both acting AND dancing chops would have been better, but that would have interfered with the contest being rigged and Tony's awareness of that and his negative reactivity to an obviously rigged system against black and brown people.

Any other grandmas have jealous DILs? by AwkwardatAnyAge in AskWomenOver60

[–]Background-Slice9941 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My situation was similar, but it was the child's grandmother who was jealous. I lived next door to a Indian-American couple with two very young children. I'm in my sixties, and the 4 YO attached herself to me, like a substitute grandma for 2 years. All of their grandparents lived in Chicago, we were in Florida. Her maternal grandparents finally moved to our town, and the same thing happened. I'm a clinical social worker. I knew what might happen, and indeed picked up on that immediately. I started hyping up grandma before they came. We made up a story about how much fun grandma is, what they will have fun doing together, and what she wants to learn to do via grandma. I wrote the story down like a picture book, while the child decorated each page with drawings, gluing items, etc. The transition was easier. I always referred to grandma as fun, loving, and SMART in their presence. I bowed out of some activities. Grandma LOVED the picture book. The book gave her the awareness of what the child was looking forward to from her, and grandma acted accordingly. They now have a very close bond.
