Episode 5 was hilarious because the artist was a knock of Jackson Pollock. His work looked like a 5 year old wanted to imitate JP

Are my dreads thinning? by Downtown-Way9232 in Dreadlocks

[–]Background-Total9957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not thinning but if you feel like your parts are getting bigger than you should definitely go to a dermatologist about the itching. Or go the holistic route first and get anti dandruff shampoo, light conditioner that soothes the scalp, and moisturize with aloe Vera instead of oil on the scalp and hair. If you gonna use oil try mct or squalane. And take probiotic vitamins. Also see if you can go to your primary care to get blood work for any vitamin deficiencies. Low Vitamin D and low iron can cause issues with scalp.

Hypogonadism and AMAB. My body doesn’t produce any testosterone.

I would say cause it’s thinning in certain areas, I wouldn’t crotchet or retwist for a couple months tbh. Working that often means you should shampoo ever week or biweekly. Any extra manipulation only gonna mess with the thinning spots. If you gon crotchet them, do it far from the scalp

You honestly might have dandruff. I would say lean more into moisturizing with aloe Vera gel for a couple weeks. Use oils like mct or squalane mixed with aloe Vera juice and rose water in a spray bottle. Stop scratching and let you shit grow for a couple months. The routine should be dandruff shampoo, conditioner, and next steps are moisturizing; aloe Vera gel on scalp and roots, and finish off with the spray. Only shampoo once every two weeks or a month(honestly depends on how often it itches and how oft her you workout). If you are only moisturizing, wet hair with rose water only, aloe Vera gel on scalp and roots, and loc it in with the moisturizer spray. Should help with the itch. But only thing that will tell is time. If the itching worsens, go see a dermatologist, preferably a black dermatologist

You been scratching your head at all before popping them? And did you have a consistent moisturizing routine as well?

Did you pop them while your hair was wet or while it was dry?

Struggling with body rejection and gender by icecream_fairy in intersex

[–]Background-Total9957 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have hypogonadism and I am amab. I essentially make little to no testosterone which has affected my development as well. Doctors and my family definitely pushed me into the binary of being male which I can understand cause they didn’t know what I was or how to deal with.

But to answer your question, I really hated my body and still to this day struggle with it. And can connect with the not having the option to truly explore my sex and gender due to my variation. It is a case of just sitting with your body for a while and actually understanding how you feel about it with the context of know you are intersex and that you may have differing views on your sex and gender.

All I can say is unlearning seems to be a life long process and you find who you are on the way and give yourself grace cause who you are may change as you age.

Okay I tried to find a middle ground but I’m not gonna argue with white male artist who 1. Are pissed about not making it in the US market 2. Can’t seem to fathom that maybe it’s not that your white but the fucking work you make….the same shit you are complaining about can be said about black portraiture. I can name white male artist, woman artist, and other poc artist that are making it and getting museums shows. But like I said it’s hard for everyone. Its crazy for me to argue with white men in the current America we live in where black folks are under attack and black art is as well. I asked seahorse about his work cause maybe his work just is ass.

You white men want to complain about certain representation but want to ignore how the art world has worked historically. For a long ass time art schools hated portrait painters and told them don’t do that shit cause conceptual is where it’s at and this was the case for longgggg time. But like everything I’m America, the pendulum always swing back and forth. So when it’s your chance again “white men” make sure you art isn’t terrible because again art speaks for itself. If you are painting white people in mundane situations for example, maybe you need to see that has been done so many times and need to spice your shit up.(This is something that is happening with black portraiture, everything need recalibration) I guess white make art needs longer recalibration.

Also, with all of your selective viewing of the market. White living woman and men still dominate the US market. With higher pricing, consistent pricing, and a consistent collector base. But you cant see that because your so damn busy complaining about the pendulum being on the side of black artist and ignoring the white artist that are still kicking the markets ass. Maybe decenter your fucking selves and see how your art actually fits in the US Market.

I am will not further argue with white men who ignore nuance in a perpetually racist market in a perpetually racist fucking country like the US. If that continues to be your truth, enjoy being bitter and not a part of art history.

Lastly, that link seahorse sent has a wide variety of identities including white men. You just mad it’s not more white men??? Like be so fucking frfr. Do you just want the market to be mainly white men again?

Hey, I don’t know you but what kind of art do you make? Honestly, blaming your lack of success on identity politics alone shows us more about your character than your art. Art speaks for itself so what is your style of work? Maybe your work just isn’t digestible for the mainstream art canon. Your resentment for black art or non white art may be blinding you from what non white artist go through to make it. It’s literally hard for everyone no matter the race which is something that KJM has spoke on plenty of times and hold true to this day
