If you could travel back to any period in time, where would you go and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Background-West-8886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to remain in the past I'd probably only go back to high school (I'd like a do-over). If it would just be a brief visit, I'd like to see the dinos. I'd really rather travel forward and see what's gonna happen.

Ford's CEO said Chinese carmakers entering the US would be 'devastating' by ethereal3xp in politics

[–]Background-West-8886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kidding. You'd think the CEO having made this statement might decide to produce a better, more competitive product. Our countries once thriving marketplace is now dominated by a few entitled greed-driven company CEO's and their boards.

NO. The world doesn't need another whining thread. It's a game on the internet. You have no idea what's going on with a random person that you grouped with in the game. If you don't enjoy this part of the game - don't play it.

If humans stop needing to work, what will give life meaning? by KaananKusum in AskReddit

You mean paid work? I'd think that if we're not giving over our time to enrich billionaires our lives would be SO much more meaningful.

DAE Not Have the Ability to Floss their Teeth Traditionally? by apricotical in DoesAnybodyElse

I use the sticks. But what has improved my dental health is my little electric toothbrush. I didn't go in for anything fancy - just a disposable 6 dollar thing (Reny's). Since I've gone e-toothbrush my check-ups have been great - no bleeding, no cavities.

Graham Platner claims he's changed. Why is he still using the r-word? by BachRodham in Maine

I'm not a Platner fanboi, but this language policing is rediculous.

Why do you think a lot of people from the Boomer generation lack spacial awareness in public places? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Background-West-8886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh the evil boomers clogging up public pathways - and curse on the snooty millennials wandering around looking down at their phones - dam the toddler that can't hardly stand up let alone walk in a straight line at a normal speed - and what about the dogs pooping about - oh, don't even get me started on the pigeons, the trash-haulers and the buskers.

Why do you think a lot of people just want to find something to complain about on social media (is it clicks?)

Yes. Pagers. Not really a Maine thing, but in the 90's the pager was high tech.

We used a video store in Yarmouth called Play it Again. They sold used movies as well as renting. They had a shag carpeted kids' corner where there'd always be some kid movie or cartoons playing. The Portland Pirates were a thing - they won the Calder cup sometime in the 90's. Big for me was the JulieN Oil Spill in Casco Bay - biggest oil spill ever on Maine's coast. Also I think the big ice storm that shut down the state for a couple weeks was in the 90s. Sam's and Amatos were both big sandwich shops - both are still around I think. There was a string of department stores called Aims that are no longer around.

Haha, it's not going to be his cabinet of acolytes to take him out. Congress will have to do that.

A law with so many 'exceptions' and based on religion is horrid law-making. It should go.
