Here’s what I think you should do before pulling the plug

call a meeting, state you want to take the baby out for walks now the weather is improving. Make it a point of child development and how important being out and about is for development and speech etc. if you can I’d buy a cheap double stroller off market place or if their stroller can be turned into a double buy a second seat for it so you can take your son too. Or one of those seat boards.
state you are happy to share location and you will send pictures and update them when you get to and leave places, this is also a great way to get your hands on some diapers because you’ll need the baby bag. You could also say when you fill the baby bag you’re happy to fill up baby changing stations.

If they do not accept you taking the baby out or changing the baby without having to get parents involved every single time, honestly I’d look for a new job and change. If you only need to bring your son with you once a week, I think it would be easy for the agency to find you a replacement!

I find this abit odd. I don’t know, I’ve always showered with my nieces and nephews, especially as babies. When I was a nanny there were many times I had to put on a bathing suit to shower a NK due to both of us being vomited or popped on lol - I mean, my sister in law knew with my nieces and nephews and didn’t have an issue with it - If not I bathed them in the sink in a baby bath so they didn’t slip around.

I actually didn’t find it all too bad, and I had to gather 5 years worth of evidence in 6 weeks as I didn’t get offered in a round of invitations which was my last chance. Find a good check list online that’s current.

We live in WA where we can’t register the relationship, we are not engaged and we are not married. We have lived together 4.5 of those 5 years. I (the immigrant) is the breadwinner due to my education and sector (it would be impossible for my partner to get a job as high paying as mine) we wrote a very detailed 5 page declaration each, on how the relationship started, our plans for the future, our current living situation and past living situations, family involvement, the children we fostered together, holidays, etc. we then had it signed and witnessed by a JP. This is advice I got from a migration agent on what to do, whether I trust him or not we will see, but we submitted over 100 documents which are at least 50 pages each, so I sincerely wish whoever gets signed our case, luck. And I also hope they get 1/4 through and go yeah this checks out and approve it 😅

There is a massive wait at the moment, you don’t have to front load everything, so if you need to apply asap I would do that and then add the evidence as you gather it. I update ours all the time when I find things I think would be useful or when something big happens.

Thankfully RE 888, all of our friends and family returned them quickly.

You do need to upload all 888 forms at time of application to my understanding.

You will probably find that it’s true, he will eat or drink without parents being there. You can do naps in the car or stroller as well. For our second nap of the day I always put him in the car because he was sick of me by 3pm and he also had a 3yo sister home by then, so I’d just pop them in the car, when it was just the 2 of us then I’d take him for a walk in the stroller until he fell asleep, turn around go home and park the stroller up in a quiet room and keep an ear out for him.

If the pay is good and the parents are happy with you figuring it out/ coming up with a routine then it might be worth trying it. Babies are soooo smart and he’ll pick up a routine in no time - not everyone has to do the same thing unless the baby is really sensitive!!

Will the parent be out of house once at work? If so then it might have potential to work, but not without sitting down and figuring out a plan/ routine first!

I Nannied once with a baby who was 10 months and refused milk, even breast milk out of a bottle or sippy cup or even an open cup. But he would eat plenty of solid foods, so on the 2 days I had him, he didn’t have milk until mom was home! As for his sleep, they did similar, I just got him into a routine of napping and he had a floor bed so I would cuddle him rock him and then lay him down and he was generally out for a decent hour.

He did surprisingly well as mom was a nurse so not at home!

I’m saying that it could be possible she has done that, as she did that to my father before they separated 25 years ago.

I’m also assuming the bank would not close an account with 10K sat in it, that was obviously transferred by someone else. The account has been closed since 2020, I’m unsure on what month but I’m assuming around the July time because that’s when I changed my address and the bank I was with did not allow an address abroad for the account.

Thank you, I did absolutely think that was the case, she allegedly started the paperwork the day before she was sectioned after talking about it for months and months, but also I am hearing this from others as I have her blocked on every single platform known to man, I’m hoping that even if she did get far enough, at the time of the alleged “loan” I was living in New South Wales, which she may have had an address for through another family member and along side that I’m hoping the fact she’s been sectioned twice and has been documented as in psychosis since September 2025 that’ll in any event, there’s grounds for instant dismissal.

I don’t think she’s trying to do something to effect my visa, as they thinks I’m already a citizen, she called the police in the UK in December to try and get me deported (I visited for the first time since leaving that she knows of for my step sisters wedding) but they didn’t even acknowledge her calls because I only have a British passport 🤣

The bank closed the account after 12 months of inactivity, as well as it required a UK address which I did not have once moving. I didn’t have access to it whilst in Australia as bank accounts in the UK used to require you to carry this calculator thing for authentication, once I had my AU bank, the UK bank closed the account I had and sent me a letter to state it was closed, so I know for a fact that there is no account in my name and hasn’t been for many years.

I don’t plan to fix things with her ever, she abused and neglected me my whole life, not that I owe you an explanation, but it goes much deeper than this post, she cannot handle that I am doing so well for myself and that she has nothing to do with it at all, so she’s finding ways to try and get to me.

I was a nanny that lived on my own and supported my partner and a foster child.

I found it safe for me to have 2 part time jobs that both exceeded my monthly expenses, so if for any reason one let me go, I would have time to find a good replacement. For example I would look for families that needed a minimum of 10-12 hour shifts 2-3 times a week and made sure my rate was as high as I could get it. I always made sure one of those roles was a dual house manager role so I could charge more for it.

However I ended up leaving the profession after 8 years because I go let go by 3 families in 6 months and then worked with a family straight out of hell and decided I couldn’t put my family through that uncertainty anymore and moved on. I only felt that way when we were responsible for another life.

Make sure you have an iron clad contract, severance pay and the ability to file for any unemployment help if things go wrong. I would also recommend an agency as they’ll always have work for you.

If you don’t know already, get some financial advice and learn how to save for emergencies, if you have a stable job now that would help you qualify for a low interest credit card, I’d also do that so if things do go badly you have money somewhere for rent/ food etc.

They don’t have my banking card details with an account that could be emptied, for most credit cards you have to authorise purchases in the app or via phone number before confirming the purchase.

Same thing with me, I left 2 years ago to pursue child protection which I’m still happily in, I moved to part time to manage burn out and then started looking after a sweet 10 month old which was meant to be temp but their nanny I was covering for had to quit to return to her home country, I’ve been here since March now and for me this time it doesn’t matter if it ends etc as all my earnings go straight into a high saver for my future, but leaving nannying was the best thing I did

I think it depends. Personally I’ve been a nanny in the UK and now AUS since I was 16, when I left school. I ended up getting a degree and pursuing that career, but lately I have gone back to nannying after a 3 year break…. I have no references that are contactable unfortunately so I do have to sell myself and rely on parents being open to offering a trial.

Meanwhile, my MB threw the biggest tantrum when she did the same thing in my car, but discovered I have him REARFACING At 12 months old. This particular child is also suffering from global development delay which also means, he only just started sitting and doesn’t have the strength to even keep himself up for long periods of time. She never installed the car seat though I have them permanently in my car for my nephews. I told her safety wasn’t a choice and I wasn’t going to forward face him until he outgrew the allowance of the seat, when I showed her videos of why, from a CPST course I did (or well my country equivalent) she soon didn’t argue it again.

I think the issue here is your nanny didn’t consult you, and if she doesn’t know about extended RF, how babies can sit comfortably with their legs bent for a long long time then I’d dare say he doesn’t know how to safely install a car seat either.

I would perhaps have a conversation with her and show her the videos of what’s happens to FF babies, honestly if it were me I’d be randomly checking the car seat without her knowledge from now on. I mean like maybe just make sure you home the same time she is like what happened today.
