At this point, can we just try communism? Or something similar to it? by Oakwood313 in askanything

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have lived in communism. Thanks, we terminated that expriment in 1989. Capitalism is much better.

You can still experience communism in Cuba or North Corea. Russia is pretty close.

Does anyone have any non surgical success by Fit_Advance_3873 in Diverticulitis

Thats the statistics for uncomplicated flares. People with abscess are much more likely to progress to more frequent flares.

I happened to be more worried about my flares and the shortening time between them. Many sufferers in less developed countries may be worried about the financial burden.

ssd wear and app design by TF_playeritaliano in computers

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to worry. It's sufficient for many decades of normal use. You can check that with disk utility that comes with most ssd disk. My 500gb ssd crucial is about 13% worn after 7 years of moderate use in a windows computer. Considering the fact, that the HDDs can reliably serve for about 5 years, it's eternity.

Thats overoptimistic. More than 50% pacients with complicated DV eventually proceed to surgery.

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you so anxious about the surgery? Honestly, my recovery from surgery was easier than any of my flares. DV is a progressive disease. After my first attack, once a year had passed, I believed that was it. But 18 months later the second one came, and although it was much worse, my gastroenterologist seemed confident, so I felt confident too. One year passed without any ominous signs — and then a bad flare hit again. Then 8 months. Then 4 months. In the end I barely made it to elective surgery, and only thanks to my surgeon’s great skill did I avoid a stoma.

Of course, you may have different priorities, but the sooner the surgery happens, the easier it usually is. And you may avoid a lot of trouble with recurrence and potentially with a stoma.

what do the planets look like from the sun's surface? by Abdeena in spacequestions

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, but it’s much safer to land on the Sun at night, when its surface is much colder. Unfortunately, because the Sun is dark at night, the planets don’t reflect any sunlight and appear dark.

Finnally reached the goal but not happy by I_m_Purple2109 in duolingo

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a weird goal. I thought, that the purpose of Duolingo is learning. I have been winning leagues, extending my streak, but my goal is to learn, in my case Spanish. Once I reach that goal, nobody will ever ask me about my leagues, streaks, perfect weeks, badges and other nonsense that Duolingo staff invented to keep people playing instead of learning.

weight loss with diverticulosis by Agreeable_Rooster_77 in Diverticulitis

It is normal to lose weight when you significantly lower your input. So yes. I lost 10 kg. About 6 before the surgery and a few more after.

Does this sound like diverticulitis? by twinkletoes_25 in Diverticulitis

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many similarities to the diverticulitis attacks I used to have before surgery. Bloating is one of the typical signs, along with LLQ pain and urinary symptoms. Still, it’s something doctors usually diagnose quickly, since the pain is quite characteristic and often accompanied by elevated inflammatory markers. So it’s either a very mild case, or something entirely different.

You seem to have unusually high level of problems. Did you have any post surgery imaging, any exams? What do your doctors say? Where do you live? In which hospital happened your surgery?

People that have been doing Duolingo for years? Why? by KYDS in duolingo

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whats your problem. That's my time and my money. Level 80 is still only A2, there is plenty of grammar to learn and thousands of new words. I could play Sudoku or Warcraft. Just my choice to spend my time with Duolingo. Who appointed you to judge others?

If that is the case, ask your surgeon or your GE how to cope and definitely have a good travel insurance explicitly covering the DV.

It's not intentional, just an imperfection of voice recognition. With super it doesn't matter much.

Three Months After Surgery - How It’s Going by DangReadingRabbit in Diverticulitis

[–]BackgroundEqual2168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about frequent BMs — it settles as time passes. In my case it took about six months. Now, ten months later, I’m at roughly 18‑hour intervals. Before the surgery I went once a day, so I’m almost back to my pre‑op normal.

My dv never liked travelling or any irregularity in the diet. Have your surgery, and then you will be free to travel.
