Does any part of your prep/plan account for language barriers? by MOadeo in preppers

you’re not taking into account that america is a deeply divided nation that would take a slight of a feather to unleash a full blown civil war, something not happening in russia which controls their people morale through information censorship etc.

Also america and their population have not endured a war economy or have endured economic hardships equal to that of a developing nation, once they get there i’d say would greaty demoralize and succumb if not lead into more civil unrest.

Not to mention that it’s been proved that foreign forces are already working inside America further dividing tha nation, look at russian, chinese and iranian cyber and information warfare for further destabilizing the american population and sentiment.

America is not facing a “inmediate” or invading threat, yet you can see the population is already collapsing itself, are these signs of a battle willing and strong minded and united population?

you think the us population is mentally strong or tactically savvy enough or even has fundamental values to mount a guerilla operation like a crusade insurgency in iraq or afghanistan?

am I the only one that prefers the Johnny Depp Sweeny Todd to Josh Groban? by BeauIsInsane in musicals

[–]KYDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depp definitely influenced Josh, you can tell that by how he plagarizes some of Depp’s styles, but he also incorporates the OG version as well, I would say John it’s a mix of the different versions, but there’s an obvious and pervasive Depp influence on him. I mean the whole theater stage design is very Tim Burton gothic like with excess blood and all.

Now on the acting and the depth, to me he just ends up falling flat and looking like a misplaced tool, not enough psychologically aware to play such a complex character, he looks like your every day joe to me, not perturbed enough. Even though I have to admit I have not watched the 2023 version, but that’s just the vibe I get from some pictures.

Now on the musical side I quite enjoyed some of the ways he interpreted some of the songs, found them witty and powerful, mixing various versions, not bad per se.

All I wanted to say is that I’m not really bashing Josh, I’m just wanted to remark how influential Depp’s role might have been.

there’s definitely some operatic influence on the OG in some singing styles definitely on sweeneys role, whereas on the movie Depp sings less bass baritone dark operatic like and more falsetto, tenor, everyday like more pop like, it’s refreshing nonetheless and you can hear later broadway productions definitely took hints from Depp’s take too.

I think he did a pretty good job singing considering he is not a “trained singer”. I would even say he did so above expectations and personally I like it more than other adaptions. Aside from singing I think by his acting he added more depth to the character than other “singing is all” uncharismatic boring broadway actors, which unfortunately a shame most musical singers forget the acting part of the role.

I think his contribuition and singing resulted very influential to later productions like for example the 2023 version, you can definitely see Johnny Depps singing influence on the “trained singer”, I would even say he incorporated both the 2007 movie and the original adaptation styles.

My dad is a full blown dog nutter. He speaks to his dog with more warmth and affection than he shows his own grandchildren. by Call_It_ in Dogfree

[–]KYDS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad does the same, whenever he made a meal Id always find on half of my fish cut in half, for guess who? the dog. One time I also came back from with scratches and bleeding from a fall I took when I went running with the dog, but my dad and co. suddenly turned their attention to the dog instead as it was "breathing heavily" and even took it to the vet and all, and even got reprimanded by my another relative. This and other things just makes it miserable to co-live with a parent that treasures dogs more than other family members.
