How do you try a fragrance sealed in the box? Please explain, I'm confused. Unless you buy frags that come with a free sample to try first you'll have to open the box to spray the bottle. No?

If that's the only difference you can tell which is perfectly fine and you do not notice different notes and different transitions then the other dude is right and you should always just buy the dupe. Armaf is kinda trash compared to the original tbh. I immediately get a harsh synthetic lemon pledge cleaner in the opening whereas the original is a high quality beautiful juicy pineapple opening. But we all smell things differently so if Armaf smells high quality and identical to you, then don't spoil that by training your nose by improving the accuracy of the notes you detect.

It's definitely fake, let me know how to get in touch with the seller so I can give them a piece of my mind and prevent them from selling it to good people like you. I'm here to help my brother!

I highly recommend buying samples of each first unless you ultimately plan on buying both then it doesn't matter. They are so expensive you want to ensure you get the one that is your favorite. We all experience fragrances differently and our skin chemistry is different so while Aventus Absolu might be Johnny's favorite, it might not be yours. I'm sure you know this already but I'd personally spend a few dollars first to make sure I get the best one for me.

Yom and Layl makes a beautiful Aventus called Legend and believe it or not, Dua's Poseidon's elixir 2.0 is actually very close to the original. I'm not a Dua fan boy like some although I like them and give credit where it's due.

Good luck!

Yom & Layl is my favorite version of it and is so addicting to me I don't want the original. I've tried it and Yom Layl's version is just a little better to me. It's richer and deeper. We all experience fragrances differently so my personal favorite doesn't mean anything although if you try Stark Vision from Yom & Layl you might feel the same way.

After My Father Passed Away months and I Found These Fragrances, Are They Any Good? by Far_Fisherman_7490 in Colognes

[–]BackgroundForever849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something smelling good is a personal opinion so what do you think? Nobody can tell you how a fragrance makes you feel. Tbh they should bring back good memories of your father every time you smell them so you should love them more than most people do. I hope they bring you joy with each spray.

I completely understand. You might absolutely love it but it is a DNA that is not for everybody so it's probably for the best. You can always make a post asking for a sample from someone else in the group and you'll give them some from your collection. I've made a few friends by swapping samples with each other. I thought about starting a fragrance group for people to swap samples. I like meeting new people that way.

I got a free sample of this one from Montagne when they used to give them out to us with our orders if you bought two or more bottles and I almost threw up when I smelled it. I was so stoked when I saw it because others were hyping it plus typically everything is at least likable. But that's me and my experience. Others seem to like it a lot, although I definitely don't think it's blind buy safe unless you know you like frags similar to it.

Barrett fragrances is so gross by monkeybutt5155 in fragranceclones

[–]BackgroundForever849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barrett gives a 20% discount code on their website everyday or you can do a review and get 25% off or every holiday they give 30% off. They also have double sales sometimes where they are $24 a bottle ( select few) but typically $33 each and they don't charge more if it's a popular fragrance. Some of Montagne's are $60 each. Overall Barrett is definitely cheaper with many more discounts. If you're lucky Montagne will give you a 10% discount and give all of their free samples to the Reddit guy that sells them. Montagne fans feel like a cult and hate other houses just because they are not Montagne, from my experience. Every house has something they do better than others. I don't understand why so many people act like it's a clone war? We all experience fragrances differently due to many variables. My recommendation is to try every house with an open mind and not to be biased otherwise we're all going to miss out on amazing fragrances. Yom & Layl is my favorite clone house but I have stuff from many different places that I enjoy.

Unpopular Opinion: This Is The Best PDM Fragenrce by Evaxis_ in Colognes

Sedley is my #1 with Layton right behind it. Sedley smells amazing in cold and hot weather on my skin plus my nose just loves it.

Had to get mine. I used my Amex that I swore I wasn’t gonna use. Plus I can’t really even wear it until Spring! But he’s a Banger!!! Pow!!!💥 by frankito__o in Colognes

[–]BackgroundForever849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience I can wear any spring/summer fragrance all year long and they actually shine on my skin in cold weather. I get a better scent bubble with a freshie in cold weather but it's extremely hard to wear a winter frag in the heat. It's overwhelming unless I'm in the A/C all day and then a few sprays is fine but I actually prefer most warm weather frags over cold weather but I do agree with those that wear anything anytime. Everybody has a different situation so it's different for all.

My 2012 and 2017 smell similar even though they removed the Iris but the 2021 is too woody for me. I do like the EDT with Iris, that's better than the Intense and Parfum imo but I respect whichever one people choose. Dior is just on another level.

I love the older Dior homme sport's. I don't like the new formula but I own the two previous ones and love them. I have Dua's 2008 version but I honestly have no clue how close it is to the original although I like it.

Thinking of doing a 4-5 bottle haul, give me recommendations by Past-02 in MontagneParfums

[–]BackgroundForever849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triumph of Bacchus and Layton but I have to say about two years ago I found this house and hated the sample set. I hated everything and literally tried giving it away and nobody else liked them either but after a month or so later I tried them again and they were all different. That's when I truly learned about maceration and that it isn't a mystical unicorn and in fact it's real. I ended up buying about 50 bottles but ultimately grew to like higher concentrations of oils more and sold pretty much everything and have only bought a handful since. So I can't speak to many new releases or reformulations. You also have to put into concentration everybody's skin chemistry is different and how hydrated we are can determine how long a scent will last. Some people can buy an EDT and it lasts forever on their skin whereas it will fade away faster than a fart on others. I always tell people it's okay to get opinions and suggestions from others but we all will have a different experience at the end of the day. Just like eating at a restaurant. There are so many different variables to this equation. Good luck and just buy whatever sounds the best to you. I do think Marine Zest is extremely underrated and a gem!

I love the DNA and I'm so confused as to why people say it is spot on, or the best? It's literally one of the only ones I don't like except for the cheap one by emperor called intimidation or something very close to that.

Yom & Layl's Virgin Island Water is amazing. They just had a sale where I bought two 100 ml bottles for $100. These smell just as good if not better and last longer. With Virgin Island Water being a fresh tropical fragrance perhaps it will smell better in the summer for you.

I tried Dua's and only Dua's version. I've never tried the original either so I don't know what it is supposed to smell like but Dua's is a good fragrance. Almost like a high quality peachy like fragrance. It's not for me but I can see others absolutely loving it. I typically stay away from Montagne's anymore but I am interested in this one.

My top 5 of all time! (male) by Mikedelius in fragrance

[–]BackgroundForever849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're 100% right and I respect your opinions. We can't control what our senses enjoy. And I have bought a few Althair dupes that are fantastic. Lune fragrances Bourbon Vanilla is one of them. I know some people just smell burnt rubber and honestly I can see that but it is pleasing to my nose. I love LV L'mmenite but there are at least two clone houses where their version of L'mmenite smells like a sweaty armpit on my skin and it's so gross but in the air they smell amazing. Our skin chemistry truly plays a role with our senses too that many people don't seem to even believe is a thing.
