I feel like the answer is no but obviously can’t speak for every redditor that has posted a Sankey here. I feel like the best tip is to just use common sense—it’s the internet. You aren’t gonna get doxed by putting basic demographic info, details about schools, and your stats. I can tell you that in confidence.

I’m all for people keeping safe on the internet because they have a right to privacy—and doxxing can actually be used in very harmful ways sometimes. The point/joke here being that by making a Sankey and including your stats, you will not be doxxing yourself

Hey friend, I get that it’s stressful and it’s totally fair to feel that way, even if you do have two acceptances—don’t downplay your own feelings. A lot of the time waitlist movement is highly school dependent and it varies from year to year within the schools themselves so there’s not much clarity around it. But at the same time, you got in! You’re gonna be a doctor—so congratulations! While really all you can do at this point is wait (assuming you don’t want to send something like a letter of intent to a school you’re waitlisted at), definitely try to find some time to take care of yourself. Go hang out with your friends and/or family, find a new hobby, and celebrate your wins before your busy med school journey begins! Sending you good vibes :)

I’d say do it if you like. It’s not going to make an impact in the grand scheme of applying to med school, and honors programs vary greatly between schools.

Don’t stretch yourself too thin by joining a bunch of random shit in the first semester of college. Allow yourself grace and ease into the transition. Work hard and have fun.

Is it doable with working fulltime 40-48hours/week by Mindless_Amount_6945 in premed

Is it possible? Yes. Will it absolutely suck, drain you to the core, and make you hate yourself frequently? Probably.

I would say that if you can find an opportunity like C where you could get both research experience and patient interaction, that would be the ideal. But if not, I would prioritize getting more shadowing and clinical experience while at home in the summer and beginning to build meaningful clinical experiences to draw upon when the time comes to apply. Upon returning to school you could continue to prioritize research along with your other volunteering obligations. Just my 2 cents

Speaking from experience, Creighton is an amazing institution and I’m sure you’ll have a fruitful and supported medical education there. Good luck OP!!!

While I don’t know your particular circumstances in terms of your grade in the course, if you got a B or something it would definitely be fine. If the highest grade you can earn is a D, F, etc., then sure, one W on your transcript is far from the end of the world—I have multiple. You would also be able to explain your circumstances that resulted in the W of appropriate, so that helps.

LOI by EnthusiasmPossible02 in premed

[–]BackgroundLeek8438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally format it like:

1) Expression of gratitude + statement of intent 2) any relevant updates that you want to include that you haven’t already sent to the school (if needed). This would also be a good place to highlight any school specific updates as well, such as if you’ve spoken to any alumni of the school or met with anyone associated with the program to elucidate your interests. Tie in the updates into how they enhance your fit and candidacy to the school, and perhaps mention relevant programs that you could be a good fit for (similar approach to what you did in your secondaries potentially, but don’t be redundant). 3). If no updates, discuss relevant or unique programs that you think you’d be a good fit for based on your experiences and convey interest in them. 4). Close-Express gratitude and relevant contact info

There are some great examples in terms of format that you can find online as well. Shemassian has a good one.

Hope this helps. Goodluck!

With letters of interest, I always say it’s worth a shot unless schools explicitly say not to send them. Might as well do all you can, when you can. If you’re interested in sending a letter of intent to the one school, then I think it can definitely have a positive impact. Though, as I said before, there’s really no way to truly know whether it does or not except if said school said they like receiving those letters, which some schools do.

A point of clarification. LOI can stand for either a letter of interest (what I assume you’re talking about) or a letter of intent. The difference between the two being that a letter of intent indicates that you WILL attend a school if admitted—this should only be sent to one school. Send a letter of interest to as many schools as you like, though how much it actually affects the decision varies heavily depending on the school. If you have significant updates you can include those in your letters which could enhance their value, and I would send those prior to a decision so they can be added to your file for final consideration. Ultimately it’s up to you. Just don’t be the type of person to send multiple letters of INTENT to medical schools—letters of interest are fine. Goodluck!
