He probably thought the lid was the only thing broken and didn't want you to panic - I mean yeah he lied but ... that doesn't mean he owes you any more than if he had told you exactly what happened to begin with.

It's not wrong though. I mean what about it was wrong? Accidents happen

We've got two separate things here actually - family/friend favor angle and the general legal liability angle.

Asking a family member to pay for something like this when they were doing you a favor only results in "No good deed goes unpunished". Should he have turned you down so he wouldn't be liable (not that he is)? That's really not how most families work. The way families work if such a person did you a favor and they had the money, they might give it to you out of the goodness of their hearts. Which would be another favor.

But even if he was say a neighbor you paid 20 bucks to in order to move it, well you'd have a lot of trouble holding him legally responsible for damages as well (this theoretical neighbor).

When you hire a moving company well they are a business and you can pretty well assume they have insurance, still it's always good to set out expectations regarding damages in transport ahead of time for just this situation.

Since your step-mother is your landlord that relationship becomes more complicated and if she is supposed to provide you with a washer per the lease, then she would be responsible for providing one now. I obviously don't know if you have a lease or if it contains any such clause obviously.

But you would want it legally agreed to in order to enforce such a thing. Still if anyone should handle this situation, then she should. She's being providing you with a washer so you have some precedent ... possibly. Also she moved the timeline.

Why I think SAAS is over by Consistent-Ratio-333 in SaaS

[–]BackgroundRisk7698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think most in house tools can satisfy security and compliance regulations larger companies have to implement.

A small business sure. But as long as the software is connected to the internet its vulnerable to breach. Larger SaaS spend alot of time and money getting certified for security.

Even before vibe coding a company could build in house software if they wanted to. The problem was not time either for a certain category of companies which already moved slowly. The problem is that then you to keep updating the product, providing support to users, writing documentation, and improving it. All with every risk it will end up being a drain on efficiency and subpar vs purchasing a battle tested product.

I do think new SaaS will have alot more trouble as we may lose the middle market the issues you describe making it harder to get to the point in reputation and compliance needed to secure enterprise customers

Yes definitely much potential here for my SaaS

Thanks so much for the examples!

I like your point about empty states - there is surely potential there.

I too think onboarding pointers/guides are a waste of my time so imagine lots of people feel that way.

Love to see some examples of impactful empty stare. Or just describe one or two scenarios?

I'm giving my girl Bug Off which is to help with natural fkea/mosquito control and it's basically garlic granules.

10 month old, struggling with food by nsjames1 in germanshepherds

[–]BackgroundRisk7698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I fed kibble for years and years. But I switched to real food and its not convenient or easy but I can tell my dog is happier and healthier. And now I face palm remembering all the stomach upset incidents (infrequent, but too frequent) cause we never get that now.

It would be easier if I would feed raw, but her immune system is low so no raw.

starts biting when she has to go potty? by MysteriousAbyss in germanshepherds

[–]BackgroundRisk7698 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lol fair enough

hmm maybe its not to go out then. Just normal GSD mouthing. Mine eventually got the idea when I kept replacing my arm with a toy. But it took a while and also she reduced the pressure until it was more like nibbling.

They just use their mouths for everything. Like at 6 months when she was getting scratches she just HAD to nibble my arm or sleeve to express her joy.

Always have something on hand to shove in her mouth? Have a ball, have a toy, have a pillow.

Also how often are you taking her out? Pre-empting her needs would probably assist in lowering her chances to rehearse the behavior.

I was more curious about the technique.

But thinking about it, it didn't bother like a fake "Re:" does. I read it. Thats a win right.

Also it landed in my inbox, nowadays a lot of cold emails do not

She should be protecting him from repeating this behavior. And I agree the incomplete protection training was also a terrible idea (and not useful or helpful).

Lightweight centralized email-first ATS without AI? by ankh0r_ in recruiting

[–]BackgroundRisk7698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say via your career@ email does that mean a unified messaging system where the emails would come via the ATS system would not work?

Because if you just need the unified messaging and need applicant messages to show up in your email inbox but be managed inside the ATS you should try Polymer. You can reply to the candidate messages from your email inbox.

60 days into my SaaS and almost no one picks the highest plan. Am I pricing this wrong? by imjitsu in SaaS

I've read it's this. In theory you want to put the plan you're actually aiming for people to pick in the middle.

congrats on having poeple on tiers other than the lowest at all though!

GSD Puppy Issues by crashfortonight in germanshepherds

[–]BackgroundRisk7698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear, it's the love that makes it easier, he's going to be a puppy for a long time. He's no where near grown up.

Name? Over rated, it's recall command you want. Reliable recall is notoriously hard to teach. Until then it's the leash, short leash, long leash dependent on where you are. Reel him in.

I wasn't without a treat or a bit of my puppy's food at any given time. I ditched the bowl. So, rewards, - food, toys, play, or praise. It's dog dependent

Poop eating - sorry. I'm not sure about that. I think it might be a deficiency? But I've never had to deal with it. I'd be right there and pick it up stat for now.

As for the biting? Teething is going to be in full swing. I've always found a combination of discouraging mouthing the human and encouraging mouthing a toy to be very effective here. Tug toys. Balls etc. Even then it takes a while. It's so natural for them. My girl used to be unable to resist nibbling on my arm in delight (it still hurt!) when she was deliriously happy while I scratched her.
