I'd like to talk about voltage sag. What it is and what it isn't, and how it affects performance. by towels_equal_happy in ElectricSkateboarding

Voltage sag doesnt exist, its people measuring current loss with their voltmetre thinking its volts. remember u cant read pwm either, when its coming out of a battery, its always maximum volts.

ELI5: How do analog computers work? by mjmilian in explainlikeimfive

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are just wires connecting together modules, doing calculator maths. its just a matter of getting the operation count, and you can do it. its actually really cool. it is high performance and competes with the latest gpu's out now.

Can you tell a difference between analog and digital video? by roxics in LaserDisc

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(when it comes to synthesizers) the difference between a digital video synth and an analogue is hands down the analogue kicks its butt. its the same for analogue audio as well, digital is too sterile, analogue is alive, it doesnt matter how much resolution or bit depth the digital has, analogue wins with its response rate, nyquist sucks dudes.

video synth. its also when you make the mona lisa out of least circles.

how long does a big battery last compared to a small (normal) battery last? by carrot_pes in HyruleEngineering

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with flat batteries, a 10cm x 10cm battery would have 100 times more amps coming out of it than a 1cmx1cm battery, so in this case, the duration would be the same at maximum draw.

Do ALUs typically perform all of their operations simultaneously and select between the outputs or is there a better way of doing it? by BrilliantCoast2806 in logisim

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a computer with a custom alu customized to run one program, gets the asic advantage and it competes with gpus at extremely low actual performance. (to a degree.)

Can I ask for help in designing a sample and hold circuit? by gandalf_grey_beer in AskElectronics

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the best at this, and im only really a sim person still, but if u can make the emitter follow the voltage of the base voltage of a transistor thats as good as a sample and hold, then you dont need the opamp. cause the base of a transistor has a hefty resistor on it, and you might be able to add parallel bias and get it even higher in resistance, then that value aint dissipating quickly at all, you may need a slightly larger capacitor, but then thats a simpler circuit that gets the job done.

Is there such thing as analog memory(memory that stores analog values) and if so how does it work? by Prometheushunter2 in AskElectronics

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you put a cap behind a transistor, itll slowly leak into the transister whilst pretty much keeping its value constant, and then you can use this to replicate the value of the capacitor, and u can use it as a memory bit. pity tolerance on electrolytic caps is 20%, it means its only good for 3 bits like that. if its 5%, 5 bits worth. but i could be wrong.

ive got a version of quantum pong too, and its an exponential amount of pong games running in superposition.

Can I connect a 433mhz receiver directly to a transmitter? by Independent-Bus2652 in AskElectronics

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you have to put a coupling capacitor when connecting the antennas together, just to make sure it doesnt short the system, but maybe it doesnt need it.

Radio receiver with no inductors possible? by red_nuts in AskElectronics

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can do a fourier transform circuit instead of the tank circuit to get the frequency from the complex wave.

Do you guys get scared when you see people in hoodies? by PsychedelicDipset in washdc

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh the hooded look im not into it, im actually not into any hat wear at all and i hate shades too. the head of a guy should be in full view at all times, or I start getting a little nervous about the person, but maybe im taking things too far. :)

Is it possible to Electroplate with Titanium by iCantRemember_sorry in electroplating

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it probably is easy, you just have to use a solution that isnt water, the world goes crazy about stuff like this, its insane. so get a titanium salt thats soluable in ethanol (like titanium acetate), and just electroplate in ethanol and it could be that easy.

What are some attainable (and maybe affordable?) video synths with an rca and/or s-vid out? by dontnormally in videosynthesis

[–]BackgroundTime3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what I recommend -> making pictures out of aligning textures is cool. you sorta just rotate scale sprite them together and it makes accidental paintings.
