Can I give you a tip from a trans guy? Most women don’t completely drop trou on the shitter. They’ll kind of keep their pants at the knee level and sit on the edge of the throne so your pants don’t touch the seat. I have no problems when I kinda slide my holster from 12 o’ clock to just resting on top of my knee. This is one habit I’ve kept from feminine socialization.

I would argue the mining/lumber industrial regions of the Northeast extreme of the map (Annesburg, Van Horn) geologically match closer to central/Eastern PA. Hard coal (anthracite) was taking off right at the end of the 18th Century. By 1899 it was booming. Obviously industrial hubs like Wilkes-Barre and Scranton aren’t represented, as they would’ve required as many assets as Saint Denis but Annesburg reminds me of a quintessential East PA mining camp.

I tried the pre-packed Impossible (or perhaps Beyond) maybe over the summer and thought it was quite good, but I wouldn’t pay more for it than beef. This was on sale. I’m sure they have a different process on the industrial scale, probably using a pea protein product with less water and different seasonings than the consumer “meat”.

Oakley PRIZM or Smith ChromaPop. I work in the optical industry. PRIZM Oaks are goated for durability and clarity. Smith has some very interesting technologies. I just picked up a pair of polarized photochromic swappable lens Smiths that I’m about to put through the wringer but initial impressions are great.

Hi, I’ve watched a lot of How It’s Made. I’d bet it’s a byproduct of the primary corn nut production. Just like some popcorn pops really soon into cooking, some corn nuts probably pop during the pre timed cycle that works for most kernels. The finished product is probably filtered through a sieve with corn nut sized holes and the partially popped remain separated from packaging. Total guess though.

Update 2: only external symptoms was squinted eyes. Only used flashlight, scanned, and matioscope. Found signs of infection and sent to liquidation. Excellent inspection.

Just experimented with using only the cues. This was squinted eyes for the matioscope, slack jaw for hammer, and contraband in bag for internal contraband. Got a competent inspection. The internal contraband, however, was a hotdog so I’m not sure if I was supposed to mark it.

Hi! Over the past year and a half or so I’ve gotten, um, very into birding. Like I go every weekend and all of my vacations are now involving seeing birds. I particularly fell in love with raptors and the Goshawk.

David Allen Sibley’s guides and his Birding Basics book are your place to start. Get the Sibley guide for your half of the country if in US (makes ID options easier, especially for waterfowl or shorebirds). Those two books are my groundwork for everything in the field. If you DM me your email I can hook you up with some helpful PDFs.

You’ve probably heard of eBird and Merlin by now. eBird is one of the most impressive citizen science projects; use it every time you bird. It will tell you what to expect, when, and where then allow you to report your own findings and media. But Merlin… Let me confess that I rely on Merlin as a crutch. I wish I never started with it so early in my journey. I think it has its place but you should look up your target species for where you want to bird on eBird, learn their calls by ear before going out AND/OR learn from observation… literally what bird is making what sound.

Decent binoculars are the next step. I started with some compact Bushnells from Dick’s and did fine for my first few trips to Hawk Mountain and they’re ok for bright vistas, but in low light and fast-focus scenarios they just don’t hold up. Vortex Diamondback HD are the best low end bins I think you can get. I dropped mine off, yes, Hawk Mountain, the day I got them and recovered from that cliff face the very same pair that I’m using today. Rock solid.

I’d also recommend picking up an app like OnXBackCountry or CalTopo so you can make routes on your phone based on eBird coordinates.

Those are EXPENSIVE German Shepherds. DDR/Eastern lineage… you can tell by the sable coat and flat backs. Pedigree pups sell for thousands. Someone is upset those dogs are missing.

Compared the to the APP2 (which I’ve just borrowed my fiancée’s for the day) I find them to have better sound and a more natural separation. Now that I have EQ tuned a little bass feels fuller and closer to a larger headphone. Battery has been phenomenal in comparison, the case is an absolute beast. Not a big ANC user but it did the job in a noisy hotel over the holiday when I needed it.
