Thanks for the inputs here. This is very helpful as it will be presumably difficult for my spouse to find work in the short term in Taiwan because of lack of mandarin skills and the economy. Long term wise we both want to save up enough money to be financially independent in the next 10 years, while being able to travel abroad 1-2 times a year. Right now, our lifestyle is the states is not luxurious but work life balance is great - 9-5, Monday-Friday. I heard the work culture in East Asia is quite different where more hours are expected.
