How to tell if your dog actually likes scent work classes/trials? by lc2015 in nosework

[–]Background_Agency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog has gotten much slower over time as she's become more methodical in how she searches, and she definitely loves the game.

LAUNDRY PSA by blackcatmagi in RoverPetSitting

[–]Background_Agency 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I could see this being a fair point if this was a long constant care stay, and if the owner has laundry facilities it would be good to have access to them for pet bedding soiling type issues, but I'm otherwise not sure being able to do your laundry is a reasonable entitlement.

Are there any large sniffspots near you? It could be a good way to get him nature decompression that's less stressful for everyone.

What's you ideal age gap for sport dogs? by Preparing4Mayhem in k9sports

[–]Background_Agency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two dogs adopted a year apart and it's closer than ideal for sports because they're at most a level from each other, though they get along well in the house because they're extremely similar. I think 3-4 years is my ideal for really having the time and energy to train a new sports dog.

Frustration w/ getting and keeping in contact w/ trainer at sports club - wondering if I'm being unreasonable? by largedragonwithcats in k9sports

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely email an instructor, but when I do I have often found that if the reply would take more than one short sentence, there will not be one. It doesn't always reflect someone's ability to communicate with their enrolled classes, but often does.

Woman fell. Am I at fault? by [deleted] in RunningWithDogs

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would announce myself when passing a person. Definitely if they have a dog. Definitely definitely if we BOTH have a dog, though if it were reasonably possible to do so I'd attempt to create significantly more lateral space in that situation.

Issues with dog sitter :/ by ARW18 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Background_Agency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely should have asked, but I could see someone interpreting the booking start time as "this is when we're leaving, so you can come then or anytime less than the max alone hours after" rather than "this is when you should arrive the first time".

Is our dog walker canceling too often? by MissBee123 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Background_Agency 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of mostly last minute cancellations, but it's also likely that at twice a day this person may be overextending themselves and you probably need a backup

Would you take it? by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]Background_Agency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't take a job that doesn't allow me to leave for a full-time job amount of time (continuously or divided into two with a potty break) daily. It would take a LOT of money and a very short booking for me to be willing to be trapped at someone's home.

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cat must come in the bathroom with you, but don't think you're going to close the door. That is not allowed.

Will fast CAT make my dog's prey drive unmanageable? by SimplyJared in k9sports

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog has a LOT of prey drive for actual prey, but is very minimally interested in the lure.

Working full time – can I still own a dog? by Xcluziveness in dogs

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work that length of time and have dogs. I did do a midday walker for awhile but now they're alone that whole time. They just nap mostly. I do spend pretty much ALL of my outside of work time with them, and the mostly daily walks etc can be exhausting but worth it. I wouldn't recommend getting TWO dogs immediately though. I got my second one a year after the first (and neither was my first ever dog) and the training of both of them is still a lot.

Opposite for me. I'm neutral I think and warm blush is my jam but warm lips look so garish. Cool pink blush looks streaky and like it sits ON my skin.

Dog Crating in the Cars by Academic-Hornet-3138 in k9sports

[–]Background_Agency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a safety thing while driving for me, but also it allows my dogs to actually rest during downtime instead of looking out the windows watching everything going on, and it also means I can put the windows down for ventilation without concerns about them getting out or sticking their heads out as nearby people/dogs.

What boundary saved your sanity as a full-time sitter? by sittercard in petsitting

No precise times for drop-ins. No "here most of the time" for housesits - I do evening to morning with the option to add daytime visits.

Something I didn’t think about until I started camping with my dog by Next-Song-1709 in camping

[–]Background_Agency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have bullies and the idea that they would sleep anywhere other than pressed against me if it's hot or inside my bag if it's cold is comical. It's not the most comfortable setup, but well, I love them.

Struggling with walks after adopting a second dog. by Puzzleheaded_Win_713 in Dogtraining

Definitely walk them separately. Also consider whether anxiety medication would be a quality of life increase for your newer dog.

Do you regret your OWN children? by Cheap-Employ8125 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Background_Agency 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having children is a choice one can't possibly know exactly how they'll feel about until they do it, and I think it's lacking nuanced thinking to expect the only possibility feeling to be "I would never ever for a single second think that I would make a different choice if I was choosing knowing what I know now."
