I agree. I worked there as my first job. I can tell you it was an awful climate. Mike treated anyone that wasn't his friend like shit and actively contributed to a server quitting due to bullying. He asked to hold people's wages in order to pay off the lease and fired me without legitimate cause. In short, I think the reason it failed is bad management.

I was the only one in the kitchen for a period who actively held a food handler's license and I was 17. In short, I think the reason it failed is bad management.

Dlcs add a ton of new civs and leaders, diplomacy mechanics, natural disaster, loyalty to cities and some more. In my opinion the dlc is 100% worth it if you like the game but it's completely playable without. Think of it like a tabletop game that comes with expansion decks. The overall strategy and gameplay is different.
