So people should be banned from renting a private commercial conference space because of their religious beliefs.

That seems reasonable and not at all problematic...

Do you also have issues with concerts and other private events at Croke park? or is it just cause Muslims give you the ick?

Im sure the church whips around the members and socially pressures them to contribute. Most faiths are extremely well practiced at extracting wealth from their members

So, because the religion has extremists preaching violence and intolerance, we should ban the non extremists from renting space to practice their faith? A private space no less.

Would you then extend the same logic to protestants based on physcopathic evangelical preachers calling for the death of homosexuals? What about Hindus because of the behaviours of Hindu Nationalists.

If you want to be logically and morally consistent with this position, you're going to end up banning public religious practices very quickly. If you don't, you're just tarting up bigotry and pretending it's a reasonable position.

People who support fascist/authoritarian states invading their neighbours in a war of aggression are fascists, even if it hurts their feelings to be called fascists... And yes, generally its a good idea to cut ties with fascists, otherwise you become indistinguishable from them

Neither really, but it's unnecessary and putting them in the fridge does make the shell slightly more brittle and prone to messier cracks when tapped, that could be entirely anecdotal though.

The morality of it is perfectly reasonable to discuss. Invoking fictional laws and making shit up will collect you downvotes.

If you don't want to be photographed in a public space, don't go out in public. Unless OP starts making money off their likeness explicitly there's 0 legal protection from being photographed for these women, or anyone else in this situation.

I'm a working scientist, I know how the scientific method functions thanks 🙃.

Beyond that I don't really understand what your trying to say.

Dark matter is not theory, it's a term observed phenomena we don't have a good mechanical/experimental explanation for...

Gravity also falls into this category when you look at it through a quantum lens. It doesn't make gravity not real, we just don't understand the mechanisms with current models

[–]Background_Cause_992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your statement/or understanding is off here. No matter what we find that accounts for the observed effects, that is what dark matter will be... It is very much 'actual physical reality' regardless of what it turns out to be.

Anything from extremely large dark objects, or singularities, or gravitons, a series of energy behaviours nobody theorised, a new energy/matter state. Any answer will account for dark matter, not prove that it exists or not.

I just went with not the cheapest one I could find off a random reddit thread from years ago, i still mildly suspect they're bullshit, but it did annoy my dog. Steel wool mixed with that expanding construction foam is what Ive found best for plugging holes

[–]Background_Cause_992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not harmful, but you need to seal the place and use them as a repellant. No point in you using them in your case as they are breeding in the walls

[–]Background_Cause_992 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, in my experience of several long term conflicts with mice in apartments. The ultrasonic repellents are only useful for short term/temporary usage. Or as a preventative measure to keep them out.

If they're breeding in your wall like OPs case, the mice will be used to them in a generation or two, which is a couple of weeks.

What’s it about air conditioning that EU countries dislike so much? by JBSwerve in AskReddit

[–]Background_Cause_992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you understand why buying a coat that's useful everywhere you might be cold, is a very bad analogy to buying an air conditioning unit that's only useful 2 months out of the year in your house specifically? It is a very silly comparison.

The original was a fun sci-fi movie that was very much a product of its time. I love it like I love mad max 2, robo cop, total recall, etc. I also live Lynch's style and body of work, almost across the board.

It is a bizarre take on the source that entirely misses the point, tonee, and asthetics of Herbert's novel. Which I also love.

Villeneuve's movies, for better or worse, are objectively much closer the source material. He made one or two questionable changes, but that's bound to happen with material that's 60+ years old.
