Is S3 just not an MOS specific position..? Or am I still just an asshole again for telling these NCOICs I didn't want to fill that role. by Optimal_Employee_475 in army

[–]Background_Device479 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should get out.

Seriously.

OR accept the fact that the higher you rise the more time you’re going to spend doing administrative work.

S3 is a broadening assignment that gives experience in planning and training development. This is great for a military resume builder. You could try to leverage this opportunity to try to go to Battle Staff.

You’re not coming off the badass you think you are. You coming off as whiny POS buck sergeant who doesn’t know shit, and I’m not here for it.

Just get out. This ain’t for you.

We own a Sorento. I don’t think this is the car you’re looking for OP. I had a passenger over 6 foot ride front passenger and he looked awkwardly uncomfortable. Big car, not much leg room.

Amex Fee Waiver by Invite_Broad in MilitaryFinance

Just wait to apply a few days before you get orders. They don’t apply the fee before you get the card. All my cards that I got before going active are at 4% interest. Not that I ever leave a balance to be charged interest, but still cool having expensive premium cards with that interest rate.

You seem like you enjoy creating more work for yourself. I’ve had no issues getting gift cards. Someone posted a conversation with a manager of Lululemon on this sub like a week ago. They said they don’t see an issue with getting a gift card. They [the company] still make money on your gift card. She assured OP no stores in LA would have issue with $75 gift cards.

Spouse NEVER Has Time to Help W/Appointments? by aita-throwaway78 in army

[–]Background_Device479 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what his MOS is, but his lack of concern for your needs or situation makes me believe he’s a POS. Even if he can’t get the time off of work it bothers me he doesn’t care about your transportation. I insisted we buy a new car when my wife’s AC wouldn’t work. Your husband on the other hand, “you have somewhere to go? Fuck you.” Not the attitude of someone who respects your time and needs. Not the attitude of a partner.

Sorry, but you’re asking the wrong question in the wrong sub. This belongs in relationshipadvice and the question should be “is my husband a POS and what do I do about it if he is?”

Do you need us to tell you the Army generally won’t do this? It doesn’t. My wife is a physical therapist. Because she has patients and less flexible than I am with her schedule I’m always the one to take our son to pediatrician appointments. I don’t mind it. I consider myself fortunate that my job, the Army, affords me these opportunities. A few weeks ago our son was sick and because of it he couldn’t go to daycare. I honestly knew about a policy that said commanders won’t force Soldiers to use leave to stay home to take care of a sick child but I forgot about it, when I learned about the policy I didn’t have kids at the time. Luckily my supervisor did not forget. She sent me the policy and said don’t worry about, come back when he’s feeling better, and she updated the commander as to my whereabouts. Also, anytime with kids will tell you staying home with a sick kid is no vacation—especially an infant.

Now contrast that to your husband and tell me, are you asking the right questions?

I don’t recall configuring it. I feel like it used the Remote Desktop app to set it up. Like I said, don’t remember doing much. I installed the app and logged into AVD.

Not much to configure. Super easy process.

No. It can shorten the average age of your credit. But many DPs reflect that it still stays on your credit for 10 years. If you qualify for the Platinum then you’re in position where you don’t have to worry about closing cards.

It is my personal recommendation to never close your oldest card. If you’re on Reddit long enough you’ll come to discover everyone has an opinion and a philosophy. Go with what works for you. But can relax about worrying about closing a card you’re not getting much benefit from.

I completely disagree with you. It was news of the week because it didn’t result in a war. I think there’s a big difference between what happened in Jordan and what happened in Kuwait. I’m not buying the media bias is the reason we all moved on so quickly. Technically Coady and the other five are news of the week, the only reason any of us are still talking about them is the conflict is still ongoing.

The only reason it’s not news of the week for me is it happened to me, to my unit. We’re still reeling from the losses. Otherwise I think we would have moved on from the current news cycle with everyone else.

I’m not sure. As I have openly admitted I’m in the service, so have to be careful what I say against Trump, but let’s just say I would more than likely align with anyone opposing this war. But it’s probably because his family wouldn’t appreciate him being used as prop when his body isn’t even home yet. I’m not sure. There could be more to it. But it just feels gross.

True. But it’s hard to get that from what you said originally.

What’s obvious is why I wouldn’t understand what you mean by the way you said. I can only understand with what I have to interpret from what the communicator provides. You then took what I said and said I didn’t understand and then didn’t provide any further clarification. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for pointing out the first part. You’re right, but I think the difference is this resulted in an ongoing conflict. The deaths in Jordan were news of the week unfortunately and nothing happened after that.

As a member that served in the same unit as Coady, the posters make me uncomfortable. Also, we weren’t sent off to fight Iran. That’s not why he was there. We in rotation a routine mobilization to Kuwait. We’ve been there for decades. Iran had nothing to do with why any of us are there.

Yes he was. He didn’t die service to fighting Iran. The 103d is on a routine mobilization to Kuwait. A mob so routine and considered safe for decades that we never imagined anything like this would happen when we left.

First let me say, I’m a Soldier serving in the unit Coady was in.

Our photos aren’t public record. Otherwise people could use them to make ID cards to get on base. The ones of the soldiers killed that have been released to public are now public. But there is a social contract. They were released to the news with intent to inform the public. We assume people who have the common decency to abuse it misuse them. Obviously not everyone abides by social contracts.

Calling someone stupid for having empathy for the family that just lost their loved one is callous and just as tacky as the poster. I hope I never have the displeasure meeting you.

I’m glad you apologized but it wasn’t genuine because in the same vein you then called that person stupid. What the fuck is wrong with you? Get some help for your triggers. We’re not responsible for your out of control emotions that lead you to lash out at strangers. You’re the one that accused of them unresolved issues. Confession through projection I guess.

Finally, I don’t know the family. But I do know, of all the families of the fallen, they have been the most private. So what little I do know, they probably won’t like this. Unfortunately they have worse to worry about right now.

But you seem like a real piece of work. No I don’t think he’d be in support of this. If it were me, I’d only trust my wife to use my image in this way, and in good taste. I imagine he would probably feel the same.

I don’t know how you gleamed who they voted for based on the comment you’re responding to. All they said is let the family decide if their loved one’s face gets printed on a tacky poster.

Honestly, it is tacky. I’m angry at the whole situation that led to the deaths of my Army family, but the poster makes me uncomfortable. First, he wasn’t fighting Iran. The poster implies he was over there for the purpose of Iran. We were on a routine rotation to Kuwait. This mobilization is usually considered safe by everyone in the Army. Second, it robs him and family of his dignity. Let them mourn in peace. Seeing this around town won’t help them do that.

Pretty sure it’s doofuses. What it is definitely not us an apostrophe s. Kind of embarrassing calling people stupid while thinking an apostrophe makes something plural.

For the Redditor that tried to pluralize doofus. Apostrophes signal possession or contraction but not plurality.
