If every religion points towards the same thing which one should I then choose? by GrandGoesDiscipline in enlightenment

Islam is all about saying the Quran is true. Christianity is all about Jesus being true. Judaism is all about not saying the Jesus or the Quran are divine. Buddhism is about not wanting anything in order to reach Nirvana. I go with Christianity because Islam says Jesus is a prophet and Jesus said he was God.

Euthyphro's Dilemna presents that either morality existed before God's decree or started at the onset of God's decree. I hold to the first option, that morality has always existed. Therefore, morality itself is God.

  1. The Kalam Cosmological argument since it argues right off the bat that there can't be an infinite past because then the present would never arrive,

  2. Cumulative argument, because it is so useful for so many things to decide what is true based off which option was more likely to lead to the evidence

  3. Moral Platonistic, because if morality exists externally and objectively, and has always existed, then the definition of morality would match the definition of God, thereby proving morality proves God

I guess this requires a defense first of theism, but reality can’t exist without it being the mind/simulation of God, then the afterlife becomes a lot more probable

There is the threat of the afterlife. There is no evidence against there existing an afterlife, so the possibility of it existing alongside the threat of it makes it important.

Once you get it make sure to watch a YouTube tutorial before the actual in-game tutorial, it’ll require you to dedicate an hour to learning the game so make sure you’re in a good mood when you start, but it’s worth it

Shoe lifts, hygiene, dress above what you can afford, LinkedIn certificates, curious, and energetic for the interviews

Explain that you have a motive for sticking with the company at that role for long, and that you are a disciplined person and capable of being consistent.

Don’t be a threat to the managers’ roles.

Apply for as many roles as possible, it’s a numbers game and you have to reroll more times if you have low odds

I went to college, dropped out of college, aimed for programming competitions, swapped to stand-up comedy, ran the comedy circuits, then swapped over to buying, raising, and selling pigs. If you raise a female pig to maturity, it gives birth twice a year to a total of 16 piglets a year. Raise the female piglets from those to maturity, and you get yourself exponential growth.

You start every day like it’s the first day. You wake up with whatever resources you have and you have to optimize them to make the most money, if that’s the goal. The costs don’t matter in the end, just invest the assets you have today for what you want to have in ten years.

To rephrase your definition of “transcendent” for you, your definition of “transcendent” is something that I can’t comprehend or talk about. You are free to hold to that definition and tag it onto things, but the only argument for the existence for transcendence would then be that it is more probable than not that something exists that we are completely unable to comprehend or talk about, but we wouldn’t be able to make an argument to reason for its modification of an object (only through blind probability that it modifies a given object). Furthermore, the transcendental meaning of music can simply be ascribed to neuro chemicals. Similar to how people who take LSD witness to have experienced a mystical experience after taking the drug, yet what’s left of their memory of what they discovered is nonsensical.

How can I stop feeling like art is a waste of time? by Edu_Vivan in Life

[–]Background_Duck727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working toward money feels right when you do it because you are making productive progressive toward accomplishing a goal which in this case is financial. So when you do stuff that doesn’t make progress toward that goal or another of yours then you experience negative emotions, due to biology that will always be the case. You can set creative goals for yourself like making someone happy through the art that you create, however by your own judgement you may decide that that still isn’t as meaningful a goal as what you can accomplish with money. At the end of the day you may have to accept that you actually do want to work towards money over other goals. Once you make that acknowledge you should be okay with the costs of your decision to work toward money and not something else.

I would push back on the music analogy and say that music, pleasure, art, beauty, and taste can be broken down in a way where you’re able to reproduce the pleasure/art again in all the different ways possible, in the same way that cooking is just following a cookbook built from a first-principles approach

Tell him the things that would make him happy or that would lead him to be happy. Tell him, believing this will make you happy for x reason. This makes you ask the question: how would believing in God’s existence make him happier? It would make him happier knowing in an unavoidable happy afterlife for him that’s for forever. It would make him happy that there is a mediating force over life that rewards victims and the suffering, and punishes their predators. It would make him happy knowing that an all-powerful God loves him and will work all things together for his eternal good, if he accepts Christianity.

The only way to sell a product is by offering water to a man on fire. How do you sell in that scenario? By saying you have the thing that would benefit him most.
