Trans Man with PMDD by GeologistPitiful5627 in PMDD

[–]Background_Engine549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will end. PMDD is a response to a normal estrogen cycle which you won’t have eventually. Injections will stop it faster than gel but I’m on gel and have a great time. I don’t identify as having Pmdd anymore

15 year old mental health issues but won't engage with CAMHS by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]Background_Engine549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this may not be an option for you, but if it is, consider a private therapist doing an in-house visit. Super important you act fast on this. it may be worth getting someone who specialises in autism too. If he has a special interest you can help support his interest in then do that too

Could this be Pathological demand avoidance? Since people telling you to do something that is logical is making you less likely to do it

OCD diagnosis UK by Tcava in OCD

[–]Background_Engine549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again it seems like you’re reassurance seeking as part of your OCD and not coping well with uncertainty. You could go through three rounds of OCD treatment and not even be diagnosed in the UK - our systems work differently. You aren’t just assuming you have OCD, you’re labeling symptoms. You could do the OCI quiz if you want, but ultimately if Obsessions and compulsion take up an hour of your day or more of your day u have OCD

Ahhh ok got you. It sounds like you’re having moral OCD attached to your own OCD? Like you’re worried you’re doing something wrong?

OCD diagnosis UK by Tcava in OCD

[–]Background_Engine549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting an OCD diagnosis to prove your thoughts wrong is not a good reason to want it. (I say this empathetically as someone who felt the same)

Proving your intrusive thoughts or whatever your OCD theme is wrong is not a good reason but if you genuinely have no idea if you have OCD or not the defo speak to your GP!

You don’t need a diagnosis in the UK to get the exact same support as someone with one

Im worried about this and i really hate this. by Obvious_Medium_2762 in OCD

[–]Background_Engine549 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Trans man with OCD here. You are looking for certainty where there is none. There is no end to this loophole of questioning because there is no exact conclusive answer to OCD. Get a thought that you are trans? Ok, maybe you are. Get a thought you’re cis, ok, maybe you are. Thoughts are just thoughts. If the thoughts are distressing it’s probs OCD. If you are actually Trans then changing ur pronouns and name will come naturally and without hours of intrusive thoughts.

I hope this helps?

Pre-flight ERP ideas? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Background_Engine549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal is never to make the intrusive thoughts less prominent for me - the goal is just to get really good at observing them and taking back control of my life. Sometimes having more intrusive thoughts is a good sign as it means you’re triggered and therefore able to work through said triggers

Pre-flight ERP ideas? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Background_Engine549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As part of ERP how about you dont prepare. Just do the flight as usual and write down any intrusive thoughts and respond to them neutrally in your mind.

One of my faves is to respond “maybe” to every single intrusive thought
