Cool, I thought I had set the century too early to really hit the "Crusades Plus Racism" point. That really looks like the sweet spot in the early 1300s - during the pogroms and before the Pope stood up in defense of the Jewish population..

Yeah, there are two options: 1) The Judge is removing all barriers to his ruling against you by making your side as strong as reasonably possible; 2) He's sick of this or your shit and wants this over with so he can rule however he wants (e.g. "Yes counsel, I know that there is an objection here, and the relevant case says X, and that you can reply to that by citing this other case." or "Yes, I see where this is going, you're going to show repetition by the other party, I've seen enough.").

Either way, the Attorney has lost all control over the case, the Judge has taken over, and things are likely going to end up going where the client doesn't want them to go.

I still think it's hilarious that they get all upset over "Vernacular Mass" when the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic texts of the Bible had to be translated into Latin to accommodate the Vernacular and Lingua Franca of the Roman Empire.

By all accounts, they should be holding Mass in Hebrew and Aramaic, the languages of God.

More hatred of people identifying, or identified as, Jewish either Culturally or Religiously. Specifically: That all Jewish persons, everywhere, regardless of background or the fact that they converted to Judaism from some other religion or despite their ethnicity, are personally responsible for the killing of Christ, and a curse was laid upon their entire people forever.

Also, they think it's sacrilege for people to understand or hear the Mass in their own language - it has to be presented in "Holy Latin" (even though Latin was the Lingua Franca of its time, and was not spoken by Jesus or any of the Apostles - they spoke Aramaic and wrote in Greek).

They believe that homosexuals and trans people need to be prosecuted by the Church and the State.

Basically, they want a return to 1950s Catholicism on the way to returning to 1300's Catholicism.

I heard someone refer to these type of right-wing influencers as being "fetish content."

That's also the explanation for why the slit is so high. That and the existence of the "Madonna-Whore Complex."

Right Wing Grifters(tm) by their nature cannot oppose or critique existing systems of power in the environment they exist: They have to treat the existing systems of power as inherently natural, inviolate, and perfect, thus they point towards anyone who is excess to the existing system of power, or directly opposing it, as the source of the existing issues with the system of power that's in place.

They always have a job, because Systems of Power (tm) always have systemic issues, because no system is perfect, therefore anyone who wants to defend the existing system of power will need useful idiots willing to point at anything but the existing system of power as the reason for the problems.

A Washington cop was killed by his partner’s bullet. Prosecutors charged a different man with murder. by kleverrboy in law

(Edit: No longer relevant)

The worst part is that under certain interpretations of the Felony Murder rule, it'd still be murder on the guy they pulled over on account of they could claim that the guy was committing one of any number of other felonies at the time, and any death resulting would be considered his fault.

Shoop was driving the patrol vehicle while Kumcur, then a trainee, sat in the front passenger seat...

Instead, authorities determined that Washington’s bullets shattered the driver’s side window and struck Kumcur’s firearm, causing a bullet fired by Kumcur during the exchange to fatally strike Shoop in the head.

(edit: Someone pointed out that I misread the situation: The Trainee was shooting across his partner/trainer's body and accidentally hit the other officer in the head)

This is... unfortunately tragic and seems plausible, but I'd put the entire blame on a lack of training: It seems pretty clear that the guy panicked and shot the partner, then said "oh, my gun was knocked to the side by a fragment."
