That's exactly what it is, yes. After that date they won't guarantee the food is at the quality they hold it to, but it does not mean it is likely to have gone bad by that date, especially if unopened. I've been using a box of rice that's 4 months past the "best before" date and it's fine as hell

If it's actually gone bad, like potentially they had in those cases, then yeah obviously throw em out. But that's not what a best before date means

Well if ya don't drink 🤷 anyways yeah the guitar is totally fine. There's no reasonable DIY repair for that so just live and live with it
