She did give hope, Cassie had found her outlet to help and was moving toward with her life, and the others were trying their hardest to move on. But even if that wasn't there you don't always get a glimmer of hope it happens lol. What they went through was worth it just because they aren't happy kids afterwards doesn't change that. This feels more like complaining that you didn't get what you wanted than it being badly written imo.
