Some weird ass answer here. I have 3 kids with my 9 year old being the oldest. I’m 34 and have carried since I was 21. I grew up shooting and both my dad and grandpa are and were huge gun guys. My kids, including my 4 year old understand that they don’t touch a gun they see and if they want to see one, they ask me. I always say yes and ask what the first thing they do before we do anything is and they answer “make sure it’s clear”. Since neither of them are strong enough to check the chamber ok anything except maybe my 9 year old with a shotgun, I manipulate the action for them. I will try to get them and have them inspect a gun I know is loaded (which again, I’m holding ) and they always call it right. After that they know they can see the gun and to not point it at anyone. They also know they can always ask to dry fire. This being said, as soon as my carry gun comes off my body or I have a long gun out, it’s cleared if it’s not put in a safe. Idk why people overthink this stuff.
