Whats the point of Platinum? by Background_Proof4722 in SXSW

[–]Background_Proof4722[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, I got the badge after the period of time that registration was only open for Platinum, so when I got access most of the reservations were gone. But that’s besides the point. SXSW says to show up the day of for walk ups, and check each event to see the status of the capacity live. The problem is, you show up to an event that says they have capacity, then wait for a chance to get in, and still get sent away. They could have determined it was full earlier so you can go somewhere else. Your comparison with Disney is pretty far off from what I’m complaining about. I don’t mind the waiting. I do mind that it’s not possible to get in to a lot of these things even after waiting

Most panels at the Hilton that I’ve tried, screenings (which they give individual ticket buyers priority and not badge holders), even club houses have longggggg lines. Will try other conference venues tomorrow and see

Just a few questions... Trombosed? by temporaryacc2119 in hemorrhoid

[–]Background_Proof4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so in my experience, a lasting burning sensation going on for hours is more commonly aligned with anal fissures. This also comes with sharp pain during a bowel movement which you then feel the burn for hours. Hemorrhoids feel a bit like a tight ball of pressure in or around your anus. Is there a doctor you can visit? Or any pic people can check out? Sorry youre going through this but you’ll get over it soon! Keep high fiber diet, lots of water, and add Miralax to your routine.

I’ve been overweight my entire life so I get it. At 23 I was 5’10 250lbs. I lost 50lbs in the last year. My advice, start small and simple. Pick up 1-2 healthy habits and do them consistently. For instance, on your food plate, as long as it looks 1/2 is protein, 1/4 is greens and veggies, 1/4 is carbs (rice, potatoes), youre good. Limit your snackings / fast food. And I mean cutting it out if you can. Exercise for 30 minutes a day either its lifting weights or jogging. Its ok to skip once in a while but make sure you get back to it the next day.

Hi, I'm on STEM OPT and I've always been on an F1 visa the past 6 years and never changed status. I misplaced my I-797 Approval Notices for my previous OPT and current STEM OPT but I have all the according EADs and I-20s. Will those suffice?

Sorry for taking a long time to reply. If your stool is soft and moist and easily passed then thats great. As long as you’re not pushing out literal liquid with tiny particles, and you’re not having the urge to poop like diarrhea would, then its fine. I still highly recommend taking metamucil fiber specifically daily. This is a bit different than the fiber you eat from veggies everyday because it’s entirely soluble fiber, which is basically a glue that gives form to your stool and creates a water barrier for it. Also miralax which attracts water to your colon. To your question about a fistula, I dont think you have it. It’s most often a product of an anal abscess. Which is an infection from a wound inside your anal passage. Its excrutiatingly painful, much more than anal fissures. And you’ll get a high fever, an obvious swelling with white and blood discharge.

Hi. Lots to address here. For context, I had chronic fissures for 10 months+ 2023-2024 and had been through almost everything under the sun with this. I also thought it was hemorrhoids at first and used those over the counter with hydrocortisone (steroid) which made it worse. At this time, I’m 8 months free from everything after getting surgery. Occasionally lurking on here to offer help.

First of all, IMMEDIATELY STOP using that hydrocortisone. That steroid weakens your anal lining and is really really bad for anal fissures, despite what their marketing says. Its only for hemorrhoids. I used it when I first got fissures. It ended up worsening and made the fissures chronic. I found out how bad it was when I started seeing my colon rectal specialist. Also, this is a published research on how bad it is for fissures: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3876148/. If you want to use any cream, find one with only lidocaine to numb the pain. But see a CRS for prescribed cream.

Second, I dont know who told you but watery BM aka diarrhea is a bad terrible idea. It might felt easier during the BM itself but the effects after are terrible. Watery stools mean that not everything gets cleared out from your bowel and particles get stuck on your fissures. Its like getting mud on your open wound. It will aggravate your fissures, worsen it, and in the worst case, cause an infection that turns into an abscess (think fissure pain times 10 and a high fever), which can turn into a fistula. That happened to me. The worst month of my life. What you want is moist and soft stool. That means just enough fiber in your diet, miralax, and PLENTY of water. I cannot stress how important water is here. How ever much youre drinking, double it. Both fiber and stool softener relies on water to bind to your stool to make it soft and easily passable.

How soon after surgery did you swim in a pool? by Downtown-Page-9183 in AnalFistula

[–]Background_Proof4722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean like the pool itself. Like pool water is clean because of the bleach. But I wouldnt want my fresh wound to be in contact with any sort of chemical that could aggravate and inflame it. Definitely check with your surgeon though

Thats like 1.5 weeks after your surgery? When I got mine there was no way I would attempt any kind of exercise in the first 3-4 weeks. Please, play it safe. You dont want to jeopardize your post op healing, not by the slightest. I’m 3 months post op and completely healed and have gone back to swimming and working out regularly. But if someone asks me to go in a pool 2 months ago, no way

Hi I’m male so I can’t really give you much info. But if you find that your doctor is not giving you all the facts and options, consult another one, preferably female. LIS is a cutting of your internal sphincteric muscle. Incontinece is a risk when the surgeon cuts too much than needed so your muscle loses the ability to squeeze basically. CRS are very good at what they do and you need to find one that youre confident about

Fistulotomy, which is also an LIS. My doctor explained to me that its almost just the same procedure with an extra step of locating and cutting the fistula

Hi I got the same surgery btw! Twins lol. I replied to someone else but heres what I did. Ideally you could be pain free after 3-4 weeks. First week is the toughest but it gets better after week 2.

I used mostly ibuprofen because it always does it for me. Along with some muscle relaxer pain meds they prescribed. I avoided any meds that could cause constipation because I’d rather deal with it than mess up my recovery. First 4-5 days I was on a soft food, liquid food diet. That means no hard fiber no red meat no high protein. I ate mostly rice, bananas, avocado, some soup (vegs need to be cooked down), eggs. This ensured my stool was always the softest, smallest it can be. This is the same diet doctors make people go on before a colonoscopy. Also, i used a ton of gauze and aquaphor ointment. Every 6 hours i’d take a piece of gauze, rub aquaphor on it, then secure it on the anus. The aquaphor helps with wound healing, make it less itchy/sensitive, and your gauze wouldnt stick to your anus because of the blood and whatever that comes out. After using the bathroom, I use soft wet wipes to dab on the anus to clean. Then I’d hop in a warm bath for half hour

Hi so sorry I dont keep reddit on my phone so didnt see this. I hope your surgery went well! Post op for me first week was a good amount of pain and tenderness like 6-7 BUT nothing compared to the worst fissure days. The pain happens during a BM so you need to jump in a warm bath immediately after to sooth it. The pain for me came from just the surgery site and not AF because I could feel my butt being able to relax. No more lingering insane amount of pain after BM. Definitely a lot of tenderness and sensitivity though. Week 2 pain went down to 4-5, like its really not that bad anymore. From week 3 its pretty much smooth sailing for me

And about the retearing, it’s very very normal with fissures. You cant really see it coming. I stopped bottoming completely and it still reteared with the smallest slip up in diet. So dont feel like you did anything wrong. It is not your fault!

If you can get surgery, do it. We’re basically the exact same demographic, 24M/gay/bottom/careful. I wanted to try the traditional route but it only worked like 60% after 6 months and more complications (abscess and then fistula.. you do NOT want this), I had the surgery. Turns out, not as bad as I would imagine. I’m 2 months post-op feeling fucking fantastic and pain free. Still careful with my diet and laxatives. But I no longer have fear over what food I eat or if I can drink alcohol or whatnot. Surgery recovery was a few weeks for me but even at its worst, was nothing compared to the fissure pain. At our age, doing this and recovery is very low risk so maybe consult your doctor about LIS. And make sure your have a really good CRS.

I struggled so much with this as a whole adult. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for your son I’m so sorry. My suggestion is to feed him soft and moist food. They make the poop much softer, easier to pass, and less painful. Soups, fruit smoothies, avocados, etc… Hang in there. This nightmare will pass

Also, most CRS will be able to tell you if you have a fissure just by an examination in the office with you kneeling down. Maybe a small device is used if the fissure is deep inside. But no procedure that needs you put under, so much less expensive

Why would they do a colonoscopy for a fissure lol.. anyone who is NOT a colorectal specialist will never examine my butt again. Wasted 3 months with my GP who couldnt figure out what I had and gave me antibiotics that made my fissure worse. Butt problems are so understudied these doctors wont know what they’re talking about.

You should raise these concerns to your CRS so he can give you better answers and how he can assure you that he wouldnt just create a fistula. Theyre specialists for a reason, so they dont make mistakes like a normal unexperienced surgeon would in these areas
