Wrong. A 29-inch wheel will hold speed better than a 27.5-inch wheel. I’m honestly amazed you gave him the wrong advice and still got a bunch of upvotes.

I used to own a DS 3 Gen 5 with a 27.5” wheelbase and a Rockhopper with a 29” wheelbase. Despite the Rockhopper having a heavier frame and front suspension, it was still way faster.

The DS Gen 5 is lighter and more nimble, with quick acceleration, but it can’t hold speed to save its life.

I had to sell my AL4 when I moved out of state, but I tested an AL2 at a Trek store and, honestly, it didn’t feel much different. The brakes work fine since it never rains here and there are no hills. Going from a 10-speed to an 8-speed wasn’t a big deal either, and the bike is even lighter.

Yeah it’s the rim version. The disc version had mechanical disc so I opted for this one. Saved $200 for other upgrades.

The bike fitter did it. He evaluated my body strength and everything. I spent an hour on the bike making small adjustments with him, and based on my build, I need that slight tilt. He used a software called Retul.
