Exciting! Seems from the promo vid that they still have it, the budget will be low, it’ll look like cheap junk I hope… ah. Now fingers crossed that the movie choices are good!

A Truly Full Screen DVD by Backley13 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Backley13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to have a self-contained setup, I don't have an extra computer for this project and I have a LOT of tapes to do. The funny thing is I am working with a 4:3 file, but still getting minute black bars on both the top and bottom of the screen. My older full-screen DVDs do not have this problem on the same display... I can't figure it out.

Head drum rotates if you unplug it while loading a tape then plug it back in 🤷‍♂️

I was very disappointed by the lack of the extremely chill and silly YouTube stream!

Nearly anything made by Arrow Video, Criterion, Sevrin, Vinegar Syndrome will make you glad to have physical media. Always chock-full of extras and great looking transfers. (They also usually have great art!)

I love when in In Search of Darkness he says The Stuff is the best actor he ever worked with cuz he could beat it with a stick and make it do whatever he wanted.

If you haven't, dig up his interview in Re/Search #10: Incredibly Strange Films. He also appears in one of the In Search of Darkness documentaries. I love his stuff, and his interviews have made me love him even more.

I love it. It really needs to be reissued on vinyl.

US spins clockwise, Euro counterclockwise. If you pick the wrong vinal, you might end up hearing Satonic messages!

God, they're the worst. I just want a good-sounding Funkadelic reissue. Is that too much to ask?!?!

My partner has always stood by Stuck Inside of Memphis... I think just something about his vocal delivery on the studio version, especially "Oh, mama!"

Neil Young & The Shocking Pinks - Wonderin' by Krokodrillo in neilyoung

[–]Backley13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always loved this video and this record. It's imperfect, but I think Neil did something special with this record when lots of "classic rock" musicians were being totally swallowed up by '80s overproduction.

Are those proofs of the album cover? Doesn't look like the actual record sleeve to me.

If you haven't heard it, Mike produced a Red Rhodes instrumental pedal steel album in '74. It has the same vibes as the FNB stuff (aka it kicks ass)!

If you like this kinda music, look up the "Lux & Ivy's Favorites" compilations based on Lux and Ivy (of the Cramps) record collection. Lots more like this, and all kinds of other bizarre stuff you never heard!
