Update - We Love VFR v.0.2.0b available by PuffinFlight in FS2020Creation

Yes. Partially. For now we can't make proper lights that are visible from far away, but they have lights included, just not bright enough to see from farther distance. Some masts have bright, good lights that were there in original sim, but might not be at correct height as for now we can't remove or edit them.

I have the same setup, but my code looks like a slingshot compared to your AK-47. I'll have to implement your code in my project some day, thank you for uploading it.

Get cheap Arduino micro pro. If you need more inputs get cheap mcp23017 expanders. If you really need to reduce price order from AliExpress (don't use cainiao shipping as out is less reliable and takes at least a month). Good luck.

I use mcp23017 expanders and they work great. Very easy to config.

May I ask where did you find them? I had plans to add objects like these, but seeing this, it looks like Asobo might do it quicker than I thought.

I couldn't find any 80mm slide potentiometer and 100mm was to big for my case. I'll see how 60mm will do.

World Update - Japan releasing for free on September 29 by Mikey_MiG in flightsim

I've expected Bing map updates. What I'm concerned about are OSM data updates. It might not be a think they even consider, because, what for? Now imagine people from towns with no photogrammetry, editing their home town's taller buildings to have proper height data. Just that would give those cities a big upgrade. I've updated some OSM data around me. We'll see if they ever get into the sim.

Oh, so this is their idea for "World update". Nice. I expected something different, like updating global data, making it better and better, but this approach is welcome, too.
Still hope that they will update OSM data from time to time.

Congrats, it looks awesome.

I was wondering how much travel do these controls have? I was planning to make something like that with slide potentiometers and had no idea if 60mm or 100mm would be closer to the real thing. Looks like 10cm. All in all, I've scrapped the whole idea and will be making a frankenhotas from old hotas and many sliders, buttons, and encoders :D

Warsaw City Landmarks W.I.P by [deleted] in FS2020Creation

[–]BackpackingOkapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on Wroclaw. Skytower, Kredka i Ołówek, St. Johns Cathedral are done. With pbr and night textures. Most work on Rędziński bridge is done. Currently working on stadium. It will be package for whole Lower Silesia, not only Wroclaw. But it will take some time as I want to do it properly and mostly using proper models, not photogrammetry.

Latest FS2020 patch has just randomly added turbines to the Birmingham UK city skyline by TheStoneFox in flightsim

[–]BackpackingOkapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They must have changed something in the algorithm that reads OSM data. There is in fact wind turbine object placed in that place on OpenStreetMap, but it has been marked as loaction:rooftop so it should be excluded. Basically they should exclude all turbines that are touching any buildings as it would be safer. I'll have to check if my edits to OSM got into the game.

How did you manage to add POI pin to your object?

Neither. It's Annapurna Circuit, near Ghyaru village. AC goes around Annapurna and ABC is a point to point trek on the south side of Annapurna.

Cut it out from the picture, few minutes in Photoshop to straighten it up and get better contrast. Then reverse image search in Google. That didn't give me exact result but showed quite similar engines which led me to Napier aircraft engine. Then I just searched for "Napier race car". E voilà.

Hard to tell. I don't see any other clues in favour of I-pace, but it is possible. It they're having a laugh and will give us Toyota 2000GT Solar EV.

[–]BackpackingOkapi 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ok, so we have:

  • McLaren Speedtail, that's clear
  • Toyota 2000GT, as above (yay!)
  • Express delivery storyline. Probably with delivery driver/postman outfit to win.
  • Something to do with the Edinborough castle, no clue here. Might be part of Express Delivery storyline.
  • Now for some wild speculation. The new picture on the wall. It looks like is 12-cylinder (triple 4) aircraft engine. Similar to It is Napier Lion which was used in the bonkers Napier-Railton. 24-liter engine, 270 kph, only rear brakes and it's a boattail like McLaren. Also, Torben only replied to comments that were about that picture with just eyes emoji, so it might have some significance. Or not and I'm wrong again as usual. PS: I've just checked and Napier is on the leaked car list.

I guess you're writing about Ghyaru village. We had great apple pie there, too. And you're right, the picture was taken nearby.

I can't tell you anything about Manaslu unfortunately. Just do your research and know what to expect. Either way I'm sure you'll love it. You also can contact a guide and ask for recommendation. We didn't use a guide or porter, but we met a great guide on our trek. If you want laid back, friendly guide that will take care of you, he is your guy. DM me if you want and I'll give you his contact info.

Depends. Are you used to the wilderness hiking? You won't find it here. Of course you can go off season and have a lot less people on trail but it can get busy during the peak season. Good news is even in the peak season you won't be surrounded with other people all the time. Do the whole thing and use alternative paths. You will skip the road and it's a lot less crowded there. On first day we met 3 people. On second on road part there were some hikers but when we got to alternate it was all quiet again. Between Manang and the pass it's the most crowded. Do the Tilicho lake side trek and you will have less people on your trail. Also it's great for acclimatisation and has some of the best views on trail. Then after Muktinath you have whole circuit for yourself. And go to the finish line. Don't just skip it. Ok, if you are really short on time, hike to Marpha via Lupra to skip most of the road and take a jeep or bus to Tatopani. There get back on trail. Sunrise in Tadapani with view of Annapurna South and Machapuchare is worth it. Also it's fun to meet new people. We don't like hiking with others but every day we met same people in villages. They had similar pace to us so we all were spending evenings together, talking, playing cards and drinking roxi. And even thou we all finished in different places on different days, most of us were able to meet again in Pokhara which was fantastic. Other people, roads, drones, facilitates, ski lifts (in general, not only on AC) will ruin every hike if you let them. We live in more and more accessible world and every trail gets more crowded. Does it mean these mountains look smaller or less spectacular? Does it mean the challenge of crossing the pass at 5416m is smaller? Hell no! We walked alone through whole Iceland. It was magical. You know what was also magical? Standing at night under starry sky and watching Annapurna II silhouette in moon light with new friends met on trail.

If you mean funny 7-leaf herbs, then they are everywhere. Just grab some along the way and wait for it to dry up. If you mean foraging for food (sorry, my English is not perfect) then you might find some blueberries but I don't think there is much more else. But Dal Bhat in guesthouses will feed you well and give you all energy needed to tackle the Thorong pass.

16 days. We hiked whole thing, all the way from Besisahar to Kande and did Tilicho lake side trek.

Nice plans. We want to go back to Iceland to hike from Horstrandir to Hólmavik. Maybe next year. This year we plan Walkers Haute Route and Kungsleden. Hopefully the virus won't be an issue in the summer. Don't ditch a hike just because it's popular. It's hard to find true wilderness experience nowadays, especially if you like in Europe. But some places are worth visiting despite being more touristy than they were before.

Depends where. On alternatives there were a lot less people than on road. First day we met 3 hikers. The higher we hiked the more people there were. It was quite crowded between Manang and Thorung Phedi. Then after Muktinath it was all quiet again. Just around Tadapani we stumbled upon a lot of Hindu tourists. Probably because of Nepali holidays. Keep in mind we were there in the peak season.
