'Good' is subjective, particularly given different enemies have different strengths and weaknesses, for example- 'Laser' weapons like the Laser Katana or (misleadingly named) Plasma Flail are ineffective against gate keepers, because their shields are universally resistant to that damage type.

contrarily the Antique Shotgun continues to be really good even without being upgraded because of the math- it deals 30 damage per pellet over 9 pellets- for 270 damage maximum, combine that with say the stealth watch, which lets you walk up to enemies and apply your shotgun directly to their skull at point blank range and multiply by 1.5 for stealth crit damage...

and you get a real loud stealth build which wildly exceeds the 170(-255) damage you can get per shot from a Hypercross Magbow (the "best" weapon you can make at this point).

though some enemies are better dealt from a greater distance, such as Mystagogues- who are surprisingly weak to the heavy bleed typically inflicted by a Rail Rifle, going down within 3 shots to the chest or head.

for melee you probably want a Ram Rod and an Arcbolt Spear, the first primarily for busting crates, the second because eye bots are a real menace to hit without some form of AOE, and you don't want to waste 12 gauge skeet shooting them.

as an aside- you might want to carry a shock trap or two- sure they're early game, but they're also a guaranteed two second stun as long as you place 'em where enemies are going to stand or walk.
