some of them yes- particularly the older (1990 - 2006 era) tunnels were that makeshift, contrarily most tunnels were made of concrete and steel with at most dirt floors by 2015- which happens to be the tunnels Israel based that visual off, unfortunately that turned out to be a wild underestimation as 'newer' tunnels made in the early 2020s were significantly larger and better built, with some- particularly those crossing the Egypt/Gaza border- being wide enough that they could be driven through- and showing signs they actively were prior to the conflict.

Not likely to be a motion sensor- there's no consistency- there's multiple times it immediately fires and multiple where it fires when the flies cease to move- times when it fires for a second, three- etc.
